1988 Fender Japan (Squier) 32" scale active Precision Bass

Here's a fun bass to play (probably due to the 1.5" nut) and in great shape too. EMG active pickups with the battery access around back. Thumbrest in the "Duck Dunn" position, really the best place to have it. Back of the neck is immaculate. Just a couple paint scratches on the bottom and cymbal dings on the headstock. 32" scale and E82 serial # so probably 88, possibly 89. The body appears to be Fender's standard 3-piece Alder.

$350 Shipped

Hi Dave. Hope all's well. What's the weight on this? Does it have the classic P thump and tone? Thx, DM

Crazy--I have the exact same bass in a lefty. Same color, same EMG's, same placement of the battery compartment.

Can you answer my prior question re classic P tone if Dave can't, Bongo? Also, maybe this is a dumb question, but can I use this as a passive bass (take out battery) or put in passive pups? Thx, DM

It is 8.2lbs, my scale goes in .2lb increments. I just A/B'd it several times with my '73 precision going through a Fliptop. The Japanese is louder since the "active part" is just a signal boost and sounds just as much like a precision as the '73, slight "timbral" differences but you could put either one on a recording and tell someone it was the other and they would believe you.

Taking the battery out would kill the signal since the "preamp" is the pickups in this case. It would be very easy to put in passive pickups though and they would work fine, just quieter.
