And this is a VERY good price for one of these "early" ones! |

I think it goes without saying that the string balance is incredible on these things. |

If I didn't have this problem I'd still own the blue one.
Bump for a great guy and a wonderful bass at a below market price. Mine didn't have a fancy top and I got quite a bit more for it than $2,200.00.
If you've always wanted to own a classy Dingwall don't miss this great opportunity! |

Thanks for that info mate! Also, was that blue one all original? Did Sheldon have his own pups at that point? |

It was a $1000 before gravity got it. I wondered what had happened to it. |

Is gravity a person up here or.....9.8 meters per sec? |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Aug 2002 Location: Raleigh, NC | | | Question was brought up, someone said the core might be walnut instead of mahagony. I am NOT sure, but now that I look at it the grain seems more like walnut. Any takers?
And......I should take some more pics of the core, which I will later today. And I will get a very accurate weight as well. Are there any other pics people want to see?
As for trades, not really looking for anything so you'd have to be offering a good deal. The price is going to be pretty firm at least till after Xmas as I think it's gonna go by then. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Topeka, Kansas | | This is an early mahogany-core Prima! First off, this is a Prima 5, which is the top of the line instrument that Dingwall offered until the Presentation Primas of recent years.
Also, I have one of the prototypes from 1993, and it is very similar to yours (the most noticeable difference being fretboard inlays).
This is in fact a mahogany core, and being so, I wonder if your bass might be earlier than 1995. I think Sheldon had moved to walnut by then, but I am not sure. What I am sure of is the AWESOME tonal combination of the warm, dark mahogany and the bright n' tight tone of the maple. It is a wonderful pairing!
I have used a nearly identical bass as my main axe for more then a decade, and I assure you that these mahogany core Prima 5's are both very rare and very special. In fact, being a Prima model with such a rare feature set, I feel your price is quite low! Someone should really jump on this before it gets the Prima pricing.
Just out of curiosity, why are you selling it?
Best wishes with your sale!
Peace,
Jason
