1995 Dingwall bass

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!

I believe this is a Voodoo model, and I saw another bass 12 numbers away on the serial that said 1995, so there is my logic on that. Just saying....

so that said, this is a pre-fire 1995 Dingwall Voodoo bass, all original except the schaller strap buttons but the original dunlops are in the original gig bag. Mahogany core, out of control quilt top and back, I believe the board is pau ferro. Bart pups and NTBT preamp. 9 piece maple neck. Action is very nice on it right now, the condition is very nice for the age, maybe a few things you can see when you look at the glare in the light but not real noticeable dings or dents and such. Price is 2200 plus shipping.

These are totally amazing instruments! I owned a blue one of these from the same year. WOW, what a B string!

And this is a VERY good price for one of these "early" ones!

I think that blue one is the one where I figured out the year and what model it was. Great looking bass, I know this has a top and a back and that didn't and that one didn't seem to last long at the same price.

I think it goes without saying that the string balance is incredible on these things.

Hey you two, I don't know why I would post this or what the rules are, and I know the one I have here is older and in much better shape, but this looks like a sick deal and I figure one of you may be interested.

Lamar I wish I could play one of these again but unfortunately I've had to get rid of all my basses that were longer than 34" scale due to pain in my left hand. If I didn't have this problem I'd still own the blue one.

Bump for a great guy and a wonderful bass at a below market price. Mine didn't have a fancy top and I got quite a bit more for it than $2,200.00.

If you've always wanted to own a classy Dingwall don't miss this great opportunity!

Gone already. Hope I turned someone on to it!

Thanks for that info mate! Also, was that blue one all original? Did Sheldon have his own pups at that point?

The blue one did have Sheldon's pickups but it's preamp was an Aguilar OBP-3 (one of my favorites).

I just missed that one on the local cl to gravity. It was a $1000 before gravity got it. I wondered what had happened to it.

It really didnt look that bad, and I love passing a deal. I think it was up for less than 10 minutes?

Is gravity a person up here or.....9.8 meters per sec?

It seems like at the moment I have no available funds that all these beautiful used Dingwalls come on the market at fantastic prices. Good luck with the sale, someone is going to get a fantastic bass at a great price!

Question was brought up, someone said the core might be walnut instead of mahagony. I am NOT sure, but now that I look at it the grain seems more like walnut. Any takers?

And......I should take some more pics of the core, which I will later today. And I will get a very accurate weight as well. Are there any other pics people want to see?

As for trades, not really looking for anything so you'd have to be offering a good deal. The price is going to be pretty firm at least till after Xmas as I think it's gonna go by then.

As far as pics - it looks like there may be discoloration on the fretboard for the first 12 frets. Is there?

Thumbs up This is an early mahogany-core Prima!

First off, this is a Prima 5, which is the top of the line instrument that Dingwall offered until the Presentation Primas of recent years.

Also, I have one of the prototypes from 1993, and it is very similar to yours (the most noticeable difference being fretboard inlays).

This is in fact a mahogany core, and being so, I wonder if your bass might be earlier than 1995. I think Sheldon had moved to walnut by then, but I am not sure. What I am sure of is the AWESOME tonal combination of the warm, dark mahogany and the bright n' tight tone of the maple. It is a wonderful pairing!

I have used a nearly identical bass as my main axe for more then a decade, and I assure you that these mahogany core Prima 5's are both very rare and very special. In fact, being a Prima model with such a rare feature set, I feel your price is quite low! Someone should really jump on this before it gets the Prima pricing.

Just out of curiosity, why are you selling it?

Best wishes with your sale!

Peace,
Jason

It looks like it may be a tad darker, but it just additional oil from your fingers. A simple scrub with fretboard cleaner followed by some fretboard oil will even it out in a flash!
