This listing is for my black on black MIM Fender Precision Special "Cowpoke." These basses were given the unofficial nickname "Cowpoke" because of the unusual pickguard design.
I am the original owner of this bass having purchased it new back in 1996. I've used it plenty but never abused it. Its got a couple of minor dings (as seen in the pics) but is overall very good shape. Note that the the pic which shows the bass in the gig bag has some ceiling lights reflected on the body which appear to be big blemishes....they're not....its just a light reflection.
The bass has a volume knob which pans and a bass/treble boost/cut knob. The EQ is active. Its got Schaller tuning machines and I've installed Schaller strap locks. The bass comes with a gig bag as a black leather Onori strap (with the Schaller strap locks installed). The bass has been strung with GHS Flea Signature Bass Boomers (45 - 105) and has recently had the neck and frets cleaned.
These basses play and sound great. Even though I've acquired more expensive basses over the years, I still keep this guy hanging on my three-way Hercules stand so I can grab it on a regular basis. I've played a lot of MIM Fenders and I'd stack the Cowpoke up against any of them (and plenty of MIA's as well.)
$300 plus shipping, or if you're in the NYC area, I'd be happy to do a local sale. Not really looking for trades but I always listen to reasonable trade offers.
