1996 G&L L2500, ebony, cherryburst

Gotta make room, and I guess I'm just a 4-string guy at the end of the day.

Up for sale is a 1996 G&L L2500 with ebony fingerboard, bi-cut neck, cherryburst. Comes with OHSC and certificate signed by Phyllis (Mrs. Leo) Fender.

This bass is a player, and has a fair amount of cosmetic wear, most notably a quarter-sized chip on the upper contour of the body that was filled with super glue, as well as some cymbal scars on the headstock. The cover on the control cavity looks like it was replaced with a home-made hand-cut piece of vinyl or plastic. Does the job.

Everything works great. Sonically, this thing sounds amazingly fat and growly, and the neck and fingerboard are smooth, rock-solid, and a pleasure to play. The fingerboard is ebony, which I believe is a custom-only feature, but I am not the original owner, so I don't know for sure.

Currently strung with a fresh set of nickel Lo-Riders.

I'm looking to get $600 plus actual shipping. Paypal is fine. I'm not really interested in messing with international deals at this point, so let's say CONUS only for now. Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Cheers!

My word! Seeing this bass is making me feel really greedy. I feel that L-2500s are actually pretty good basses for people who want a sort of Ken Smith tone, but only a bit more aggressive.

Hey, I never really thought of that, but I guess there's some truth there. You can get an active, "modern" tone out of it, but it's still got some raw, aggressive bite to it.

Haha, I'm starting to get the seller's remorse! But this thing isn't getting any love here, so it should go to a loving home.

Chef:
I just weighed it on my bathroom scale and it looks like it's roughly 11 lbs.

I also got out my ruler, and the neck is 2" wide at the nut, which I think is wider than the ones they are making now. It looks like the string spacing is about 11/16" at the saddles.

Outside my personal weight limits, but, my '97 was one of the best I've ever had.

$600?!?! Are you insane, man?! That's GIVING it away!

Bump for a beauty. And, as far as I know, G&L have quit offering ebony fretboards, even as an option, on fretted basses. You can still get fretless ebony, only, I believe.

I sent my cherry burst L-2500 back to G&L last year for a new neck. The numbskull before me fudged up the truss rod and it broke after I bought it. I WISH I could have gotten an ebony board on the new neck!

What a deal. I don't even play 5's and this one is tempting me.
