1996 MIJ Fender P-Bass (Foto Flame) - Sold!

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a great opportunity to acquire a 1996 MIJ Foto Flame P-Bass. It plays and sounds terrific. It's light and comfortable, with vintage frets, a 7.5 radius, a 1.625 nut width, and a very useful and dynamic tone pot - essentially a '62 RI. These basses were only made for a couple of years at Fuji-Gen, and are very highly-regarded.

This bass has also been stricken with the not uncommon "Foto Flame Disease," so there is some separation of the film wrapping that covers the body. This is mostly confined to the lower bout, although it is also present on tip of the lower horn. No wood is showing and it would appear that the largest separation could easily be glued down and that the overall issue would be barely noticeable from a few feet away.

(For more information on the Foto Flame series, go here: Xhefri’s Guitars – Fender Foto Flames)

The rest of the instrument is in extremely good condition with only a few small dings on the edges and not much else. The neck is immaculate (and fantastic), the rosewood board is beautiful and highly streaked, and there is only very light fret wear - not at all consistent with a 15-year-old bass.

If you are unconcerned by the cosmetics (or a studio rat by nature), you'd be hard-pressed to find a better bass at a better price!

Comes with a hardshell case.

SOLD

Thanks for looking!

I have that identical bass. But its a 94'. If some of you want a P bass but arent familiar with these basses....this is hands down the best P bass I have ever played. Better than MIA. Unless its back in the 60's or 70's MIA.
Thats a sick price too. Cosmetic flaws or not. Without cosmetic issues this would easily fetch $650.

Precisely.

I'm stunned that this is still here! A little glue injected under the finish and you are good to go...
