1997 G&L L-2000 - The Crown Royal Tiger- $750!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
97 G&L L-2000, huge, fingery stripes in the ash body with a hint of flame, gorgeous honeyburst finish, no dings or hacks/ rash, just some mild player wear around the neck pickup and a few faint slap scratches. Cavities are all fully copper-foil shielded. Neck measures at just under 1-11/16 at the nut, truss rod is 100% with lots of thread on the bullet. The neck developed a 'ski-jump' at the heel, so, rather than doing things the easy way, I had master luthier Paul Iverson remove the frets, plane the fingerboard to a nice, flat 12" radius, then install the same size frets. The action is stupid low, check the pic's, and plays with no buzz, unless you drive it really hard behind the neck heel (I set up all my basses for this). Gets some growl.

Sound-wise, this one really cuts in the mix, and puts out some seriously loud harmonics that you've never heard before- your dog will hate you! The back pickup is especially sweet in the OMG setting. If you're looking for a dark-toned dub bomb, this bass isn't it, but if you want something that is assertive, aggressive, and just plain mean, this is your bass.

This was my main player since I got it from dbopp in 2006, and have taken great care of it. Yes, have the COA and unsigned warranty card, and there is a generic TKL hardcase to go with it. Just to give an idea of how good this bass is, this one has chased off two vintage Sabres (Quad got one of 'em), a bunch of other G&L's, a few StingRays, a Tung, a vintage Rick or two,...

Ships from Canada, and I am able to ship from the US, I can work with the buyer on that.

Practice safe TB'ing, Paypal only!

Should mention that she weighs in at 10 lbs on the bathroom scale method.

I refuse to discuss/ disclose what I weigh in at....

Two seriously good trade offers on the table. Would still prefer cash, but, wow....

C, I'll call you later today.

Up there again. I will be making a run to my US shipper tomorrow, and would love to save someone a few bucks by shipping from a US address...

One trade offer has fallen through, still waiting on the second (very good) offer, but still would prefer an outright sale. Y'now, I'd consider Fender Jazz basses, as long as they don't have a Geddy-ish neck depth. My hand will cramp up playing the skinny necks, so if someone has a fat-neck J-bass, hit me up.

Hey buddy, I've got an American Jazz5 I'd trade if you're interested. I'm not sure of the model year, but I'd hazard a guess around 2003. I bought it as a leftover in 2004 I think. It's seen it's share of shows but you'd never tell it by looking at it. It's in the shop getting a tune-up right now, but I can get pics of it tomorrow if you'd like. It's Tobacco sunburst with a white pg, classic fender tone, plays and sounds like a champ. I love it to death, but the pull of G&L has been on me for about 15 years now and it's about time that I actually own one.

In response to a question, yes, the Crown Royal refers to THAT Crown Royal. The (heavenly) bottled variety

Ah, times are what they are. As for costs of shipping, I can do FedEx Ground from Blaine, Wa. for $45, insured.

...and, I'll split the shipping costs to, say, Charleston, SC...
