1997 Hanewinckel Fusion 4

Sign in to disble this ad
4-string, fretted bass custom made by Pete Hanewinckel in 1997.

-2-piece walnut body
-3-piece maple neck
-Wenge fingerboard
-2 Bartolini Quadcoils with 2-band Bartolini preamp with 2 coil tap switches and an active/passive switch
-TKL Case

It is a very mellow sounding bass, has a lot of tonal options, and plays effortlessly. No issues beyond standard cosmetic wear including a handful of dings.

I have too much gear, so I'm trying to sell some things before my girlfriend kills me and destroys everything I own. Buy this bass and save this instrument (and myself) from a fiery death!

$1400$1200 + shipping

Feel free to run trades by me - For straight across trades, I'm mainly interested in EUBs and hollow body basses with humbuckers (i.e. EB-2). I'm flexible with partial trades with at least $500 - including guitars, basses, small amps/heads/preamps, effects, and small pieces of recording equipment (i.e. mics).

Here's a sound file:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8778943/hanewinckel.wav

First figure is both pickups 50/50 with the switches up. The second figure is the neck pickup with the neck pickup switch down (p-bass coils). Third clip is the bridge pickup with the switch down (jazz coil).

I've always wanted a Hanewinckel bass, what's the weight and the nut width? What's the back profile on the neck like?

1.5" at the nut, 3/4" spacing at the bridge

The neck seems to be about as thick as my MIA p-bass - a bit thicker than my Mexi jazz. It seems slightly asymmetrical - a bit thicker towards the low strings.

I don't have a scale, but it is fairly light. Lighter than my Fenders, heavier than my Danelectro Longhorn RI.

In all fairness, I have a ton equipment that I don't use. 98% of the time I plug my upright into an AI combo. The last time I played this bass live must have been over 300 shows ago, so it needs someone that can give it more attention.

I keep making the mistake of playing it.

For trades-

Right now I'm mainly considering cash, trades where I get a good deal of cash, and 'classic' hollowbodies with humbuckers (eb-2, Corondo II, Starfire II...).

After selling my p-bass, I'm probably going to hold onto this one. But I'm still vulnerable to coercion and cash.

Haneworship

As the owner of four and five-string Hanewinckel's, I can say that the workmanship and sound are second to none. Pete is an artist. Bump!

Back on the market. I'm putting all my electric basses for sale and keeping the last one left. Trades are now limited to ADA8000, matched pair of SDCs, SM7, and an RE20.

Gotta bump for a fellow Hanewinckel owner. These are one of the most un-noticed and unappreciated bass builders out there, IMHO. Built in Cypress California, just 5 miles away from Leo Fender's original shop in Fullerton. Awesome bass at an awesome price. I'd buy it if I had the mola.
