1997 MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-String

It's a sad day in Funkytown. I have come to grips with the fact that I must part with this bass. Long story short: due to a wrist injury from a couple of years ago, I can't play this bass for more than 15 or 20 minutes without my wrist starting to throb. The narrower string spacing on it is just different enough to put my right hand at the right position to aggravate the injury. I haven't had this problem with my Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5'er with the 20mm spacing, which is why I bought it after my injury. With the Streamer, I found that tight jazz tone somewhat elusive, so I searched and searched for my dream Fender Jazz. This was it... and now it must go. It's too nice of a bass to just sit in a case as a collector's piece and not be played. Someone else should enjoy it and play the ever-loving crap out of it.

Ok... enough whining. The bass: 1997 MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-string. I bought it from MHensleyJr here on TB a month and a half ago. Here's a link to the original thread:

It's in truly perfect cosmetic condition. Overall condition is 9.9/10. The only reason I don't list it as 10/10 is because the pots could probably use a quick cleaning. Other than that, the bass is flawless. Suhr pups. Amazing tone. Devastatingly beautiful. Pictures:

I'm using MHensleyJr's pictures (with his permission) as the bass is still in the same condition as when he sold it to me... and my digital camera is a POS.

Asking what I paid for it: $950 shipped to lower 48 in a durable, mechanically sound, tweed hard case. I'll split insurance with buyer. Certified USPS Money Order preferred, but I will take PayPal as well. NO TRADES. Sorry.

I want this bass to go to a good home and for it to be played and loved.

Thanks for looking.

Beauty of a bass... is it a transparent finish?

I had one of these, and yes it's a transparent finish (I had the transparent metallic crimson). These basses have AMAZING tone, and responsiveness that's just plain killer. I too struggled with the 5, but I miss mine dearly.

Howdy,

It's transparent in the center of the body and moves to a solid cream color towards the outside.

Also, string spacing at the bridge is 18.5mm and at the nut is 11mm +/- .5mm.

Cheers,

Steve
