1997 Squier Pro Tone V P Bass PRICE DROP! Trades Welcome!

Sign in to disble this ad
NOW JUST 280 PLUS SHIPPING!!! STEAL THIS BASS!!!

For sale, 1997 Squier (Squire to others) Pro Tone P Bass V. I thought I could dive back into the realm of 5ers, but at my last practice it was a clam fest--I guess my brain is just built for 4 strings. Sad!

Made in Korea. Great player, 19mm spacing I think I read somewhere on another thread (desirable to some of you Musicman players apparently). It's wide, but so is everything to me because I haven't played another 5er since 1998.

Really nice shape--ding on the back, and a couple on the tip of the headstock. Solid ash, 3 pieces it looks lie. Gold hardware is a little tarnished but not too bad. There is some wear on the back of the neck, and two discolored spots, which you can see in the picture. Action is exactly where I like it--pretty low with room to move. Neck is nice and straight, and is very reminiscent of my 1996 Fender V USA. Weight? Around 9 or ten pound I reckon--lighter than my T40s for sure, On par with my Fender P.

Input jack is crackly as hell, but it will be replaced before the sale (by me, tonight, if I can get my act together). Otherwise the pots are nice and smooth.

Needs new strings BAD--I had planned on buying some, but I wanted to see if a 5er was worth my time. It's just not for me, but will make a great bass for someone else.

Comes with a Fender gig bag that when you climb inside and completely zip yourself up, will transport you to Narnia.

Pics:

That's not a blemish, that is a reflection of my shoe.

I'm looking for 360 plus shipping price drop!!!.

NOW JUST 280 PLUS SHIPPING!!! STEAL THIS BASS!!!

You can hit me with trades for 4 string basses, but I'd only like to trade locally. Though I have a big "locally," probably 2 hours or so in every direction, plus down to NYC. I'm set for Fenders P and J, but always interested in other stuff.

Ahh, if it's really cool we could work something out. I'm pretty well set on amps/cabs, but if you are local and have a Genz Benz Neo 212 I'm interested--I would add cash and make it very worth your while.

The last time I saw one of these was at a show I went to a few years ago and the tone killed.

Hi. I'm watching The Wire this evening. I recommend this program and this five string bass.

Just put on some new strings. It kills!

I'm in the market for a 5'er, but I'm also in the market for a new engine for my car.
This looks appetizing, but nonetheless, I cannot.
Good luck with the sale.

More PMS answered, but nothing firm yet (that's what she said). Is it the price? Go ahead and make an offer! Or 4 string basses!

Can't believe how much these are overlooked. I own one and it's seriously the best five I've owned. 19 mm string spacing, 2 inches at the nut, comfortable C shaped neck...and it dishes out warm, fat tone!

I forgot to mention that this bass has done the dishes every day without asking since I bought it. It also vacuums. Also, it picked up my kids from school. Well, someone's kids, I actually don't have any of my own (they seemed pretty scared, but what can you do? It was a nice gesture.)
