I have for sale a 1998 American Standard Fender Precision Bass in a Natural Ash finish. I purchased this bass new in 1999 and it has been kept in it's case for most of its life. I really like this bass but since I've made the move to 5 strings I'm trying purge my 4 string basses.
The body is finished in natural ash and looks gorgeous. The grain has more "pop" to it than in the pictures due to the sunlight washing it out some. It has a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and it has a beautiful tint with a satin finish. The bass weighs about 9.2 pounds according to my digital scale. The Precision is in near mint condition but to play it safe let's say it's in excellent plus condition. The only cosmetic flaws I can see is a faint scratch between the bridge and pickguard, one on the back of the body and the typical swirly type of scratches on the pickguard. I mean you have to really look for them on the body and have it in the light reflecting just right. I've looked it over several times and these are the only cosmetic flaws that I can see on the bass.
To the best of my knowledge everything is original on the bass, since I purchased it new. The only thing I would question is the pickguard. The bass came with the black pickguard installed but most natural finish basses from this era that I've seen have a white pickguard. So I don't know if the music store swapped them out because it looked better to them or if it came from Fender that way. Also, at one point I was using EMG's in the bass, so the bridge ground wire was disconnected and reconnected during the pickup/electronics swapping.
Also, the OHSC in the pictures is included and the case candy as well.
I have completed several flawless transactions on TB and I have 100% feedback on eBay under the username "Bass-316". eBay Feedback Profile for Bass-316
I'm asking $950 OBO shipped in the continental US and PayPal is OK. I'm not looking for trades at the moment.
