Cool 1999 USA PEAVEY CIRRUS 4 - ALEMBIC hybrid

Sign in to disble this ad

Here is a link to the last thread which I closed due to cold feet. I see that the prices of CIRRUS's have gone back up to where they were in 2006, and the price of Alembic's have gone back up to their rediculous prices, too.

1999 PEAVEY CIRRUS / ALEMBIC hybrid aka "Cirralembic" !!

I feel that I am offering the BEST of both world for a GREAT price. I am asking what I paid for the Alembic parts and mods labor alone. Consider the 1999, near mint, USA CIRRUS a freebee !!

Also, feel free to throw out an offer - NO TRADES. Just a sale, please.

Mike

Does it ship with all the original hardware? I know there's a lot of people who are on the fence about the alembic sound, where the cirrus sound is well regarded across the board.

YES, it does ship w/ original hardware !

As a matter of fact, the original hardware is in it now and it will ship with the Alembic optional hardware

- Alembic pickups
- Alembic low pass filter,
- Alembic vol, blend
- Alembic Q switch
- Alembic input jack is used for BOTH
... Just "plug n play !

It only takes about an hour to change this CIRRUS into an Alembic and all you need is a phillips screwdriver

Man I would nail that thing in a second if I could. One of the things i like most about the cirrus is its similarity to an Alembic.

+1

Always been Alembic curious but could never buy one, let alone play one This is one of those basses I truly wish I could play before I pay.

If someone wants this, without the Q-filter, I'd be interested in buying just the filter.

Too bad you're in Michigan, krovx. I've got an Alembic Epic on the way. I'll let you know how it sounds.

This is always a problem when you Mod a High End bass. (Even if you make it a Higher End Bass) It's a Rare Day you get back out of it what you put into it...I'll bet this bass Roars!

I own two Epics...no where near on the fence. OP isn't either, or he wouldv'e left the Cirrus alone...

I agree with you ! I love the Alembic sound, but I love the Cirrus feel better than any Alembic.

I find it ironic that the Alembic Epic is the "entry level" model of theirs, but, to me, it has the best eq. I like the classic bass/treble it offers.

As for being on the fence, I am DEFINITELY on the fence when it comes to the high end Alembic preamps. I don't really "get" the low pass filter. It seems too limited for me and lives in the midrange "talky" neighborhood.

...Hence the reason I'm selling this bass with high end Alembic preamp.

It took me only 30 mins to switch out the Peavey guts for the Alembic guts last night. It sounds SWEET, and again, I'm on the fence about selling this bass now.

To have a Cirralembic is a dream come true.

... but I do need the money, so I won't turn down a good offer.

The last time I played this bass at band rehearsal was with my hard rock band that has two guitars, keys, and my bass just seemed to be too midrangey. Hence the idea of getting out of it.

Last night I took this bass to rehearsal with my instrumental fusion trio band...

THIS BASS ROCKS !!!

It has the PERFECT mixed sound of "Cygnus X-1" and "School Days" when I played it through my Mesa Walkabout.

At this time, again, I am taking this bass off the market and keeping it. I also took my '99 bubinga to compare side by side. I am grateful to have these basses.

So, again, I am keeping this bass !! Sorry for the indecisiveness...

Mike

Mike sold me this bass and it arrived today. I actually paid a little more than he was asking, but I also knew that this was the bass for me but I wasn't watching when he had it up for sale. I let Mike know I was very interested in case he changed his mind. I am glad he did!

This bass TALKS! I mean, I can go from a screaming, or punching, or growling sound, to a smooth upright mwah sound, without touching the controls. Seriously, this is the most articulate bass I have ever played.

I already have a maple USA Cirrus 4, and I also have an Alembic Persuader. I love the Persuader because it is so much fun to play, but I am also VERY heavy-handed and the though I never thought I would be able to like a 35" scale bass, I did fall in love with the Cirrus but I also love playing the Persuader so much that I pretty much just played the Cirrus every now and then, but mostly the Persuader. Biggest problem; I play too hard and constantly break strings on the Persuader.

Also, because I play so hard, I can never be as articulate with the Persuader and I am with the Cirrus.

This bass is a perfert match for me. It takes my abuse, talks like crazy and Mike has it set up perfectly! I can go to/from this bass and my maple Cirrus with ease because mine is setup just as well. The Peavey Cirrus is definitely underrated in the playability perspective.

Also, the two things I love most about the Cirrus just happen to be the two things I hate most about my Persuader - weight and balance. The Cirrus is perfect in both but the Persuader is crap in both.

You will not see my Persuader up for sale because as said, I love playing it and it is a good change of pace, but also, you will not see Cenobyte up for sale either. Only Mike can get her back, but I am already attached to her, so I hope he is OK with that :-)

Mike, Thanks again!
Ivan

By the way, Mike shipped it in Alembic configuration, and also with a different bridge. All of the original equipment was incuded in the case.

And since going from this to my maple Cirrus is so seamless, I guess I just have a bunch of extra Cirrus parts in case anyone wants to buy them from me.

I love the maple too so I guess I am probably a Cirrus addict too. Man, I would love a Tiger Eye, or Peacock Blue Cirrus!

Then again, I'm good for now :-)

Cool

Wow, Ivan, you gave the most accurate description of the Cenobyte !

Why did I name her the Cenobyte, you ask. Well, remember Clive Barker's "Hellraiser". The Cenobytes were the demons who knew your deepest fears and desires and told you to be careful for what you ask for because you may just get it. Hence, the Cenobyte IS the perfect name for this demon.

I had done even more upgrades on this bass since the original listing, hence the price. We both know it's worth EVERY dollar.

Ivan, you are a true Cirrus fan and well deserving of this bass. As I said, I was ready (and did !) take it off the market because I recorded a track on our CD with it. You were very persistent with me and once I spoke to you on the phone, I knew you were the right man to own this one of a kind bass. If you go to the Alembic Club website and look at "gatherings" you will see THIS bass in the middle of the herd ! It received MANY compliments from die hard Alembic players, too !!

Thanks Ivan. You're the real deal.

Mike
