2003 Epiphone Elite EB-3 Bass with Original Hardshell Case

For your consideration- An Epiphone Elite / Elitist EB-3 bass guitar.

This is not the Epiphone EB-3 you can go buy at Guitar Center. This is a top of the line, made in Japan, recreation of a vintage Gibson EB-3. Most fans of the EB-3 consider them superior to the EB-3 Gibson now offers. Compare: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_EB-3

Pre-dates the brand change of the line from Elite to Elitist.

I'm the second owner- the original owner said he bought it from the Gibson factory in Memphis. Love this thing, but alas, I need the money to fund another purchase.

All Mahogany, except the rosewood fingerboard. Open back Gotoh tuners, real bone nut, 2 tone, 2 volume and a 4 channel Varitone switch. It is a short scale (30.5"). Custom-wound in the USA Humbucker (mudbucker) in the neck and a custom-wound in the USA mini-humbucker at the bridge. If you've been wanting an EB-3, this is the one to try.

Link to the original Epiphone catalog: www2.epiphone.com/elitist/elitistcatalog.pdf

Additional info: http://www.epiphonewiki.com/index.ph...Elitist_Basses

Comes with branded original hardshell case.

Now the disclosures-

It is missing the Varitone "chicken-head" selector knob. I've tried replacing it (am still trying to replace it), but Gibson/Epiphone does not make it easy. Cannot find an aftermarket to fit. Switch still works just fine.

Normal buckle rash on the back, along with normal surface scratches on both the guitar and pickguard. You have to hunt to find them and they do not appear in pictures; or more than two feet away for that matter.

The chrome is starting to yellow- especially on the bridge where the saddles rest. Great if you're going for the vintage vibe; not so much if you want brand new.

One small ding on the back near the control route cover where the wood is exposed. The picture I took of it didn't come out well. I will take another and post it later.

It is a factory second- It has "2nd" stamped on the back of the headstock. Not sure what finish flaw justified it, but at almost ten years old, said finish flaw has blended in with the other cosmetic issues (see above).

Asking $749 $729 $699 $679 shipped CONUS- PayPal accepted.

Local transactions given preference. Will obviously negotiate on price if I don't have to ship it since shipping is included in the price.

Feel free to make offers- There is a small chance that I would consider trades.

Thanks.

Update bump.

Was informed that a factory second would not have been sold by Gibson. Most likely rehabbed by MIRC here in Nashville.

My apologies.
