Sweet EARLY Skyline JO4...This is an unreal jazz bass.
Northern swamp ash body, FRALIN single coil pickups, and whomever plays it immediately comments on the comfort and quality of the bass. There are 3 things that are amazing about this bass:
1) The neck/fretwork is unbelievable! It has a new upgraded nut & feels like some wonderful Sadowsky creation or something, and everyone who played it commented on that. The whole bass has that early skyline handcrafted look and feel.
2) The sound is also fantastic! It absoutely nails the passive J-bass vibe, much better than 95% of the Fenders I have played (You could stick a Sadowsky outboard pre in front of it and you've got the Marcus Miller thing). I've also had the shielding/grounding improved so now it is quiet as a mouse (unlike other Skylines I have owned).
3) The look is pretty sweet! The black/RW/tort is so cool, IMO.
It also comes with a hardshell case. It is in excellent condition.
The (firm) price is $975 shipped.

I put quite a few of these early JO Skylines through their paces and can attest to the fact that the fit and finish made them nearly indistinguishable from the American counterparts after the Chicago crew set them up. Bump for a great bass. |
