2006 Fender Highway 1 Jazz Bass for Sale!

Sign in to disble this ad
For your consideration is this lovely 2006 60th anniversary Fender Highway 1 Jazz Bass. It comes standard with the slotted Badass II bridge. I have replaced the original pickgaurd with a Fender 62 RI gaurd and it looks beautiful. I will also include a WD tortoise pickguard (more brown in color), it has a different hole pattern and there are extra holes in the bass to accommodate that guard. The Highway 1s aren't as beefy sounding as the Am. Standards with both pickups full on, but they ring out loud if you favor the bridge pickup. If you like the Jaco sound, then you will dig the Highway 1 tone. This bass would be a perfect candidate for a fretless conversion. I have thought about doing that many times myself.

There is one small blemish about the size of a pea right in front of the bridge pickup. That is from my thumb resting there as that is my primary playing position. The nitro finish on these are really thin, so there are other very minor scratches/scuffs here and there. Overall the bass is very clean.

Can ship with old worn SKB case.

I will consider a straight up trade for a nice lightweight MIM 70s Jazz Bass only.

Asking $535 shipped.

Highway One Basses have the individual pickup routing. I have one of these Basses and they have a Killer Tone ! ! ! I added a set of Antiquity II pickups and a control plate from Buzzard Bass Shop. It has 250K CTS solid shaft pots, Sprague .047µF Orange Drop capacitor. Anyone who gets this Bass will be very happy with it.

The case is actually in much better condition than I thought. It is not pretty, but it's solid. One might even say that it has character. Two of the feet have broken off (one on each side) in it's travels. The tape was extra security to keep the case from coming open through all of the airport handling. A good deal all in all.

Well...I put this neck on the bass and let's just say that it kicks a**! So, I'm going to hold onto it for a while. Thanks for looking, though. It might be back up sometime in the future.

Did you paint this? I have never seen a shiny HW1 before.

No. It is still dull in most places, but because 99% of the playing that I have done of this bass has been in the seated position, it has been buffed to a shine in some places (still somewhat of a dull shine). This is especially true on the forearm contour and the lower body contour (where it rests on my leg). It is much shinier now than when I got it. Before I posted it here I took it to GC for a possible trade and they expressed the same concern. It is a body and neck matching serial # though, well, not the blocked neck, but the other one.
