FS: 2008 Fender Custom Shop '59 Precision Bass -- $1750

Sign in to disble this ad
Price reduced to $1750 plus shipping. This Fender reproduction of a '59 P has a sunburst relic finish, rosewood slab board, gold guard, Fralin pickup (the same custom-wound pickup that Mike Lull uses in his P basses), and weighs 8 pounds 7 ounces--it's gorgeous!

Here's the story on my bass: I bought it with a brand-new (NOS) finish in 2008, when it was made. I then became enamored with the finish work of Gord Miller of GM Vintage Restorations, and sent it to him for relicing. He wound up refinishing the bass and doing an outstanding, painstaking aging job. The neck, in particular, was finished with an ultra-thin coat of lacquer, which wears through quickly. This neck is one of the best-feeling I've every played. Other than a small, shallow ding and scratch on the back of the neck in the area of the fifth fret (too small to show up in a photo and it's never bothered me), the bass has no play-wear other than the relic job. It also plays with low, buzz-free action if that's your preference. The truss-rod nut is flush with the butt of the neck.

Photos appear below.

Thanks, I think this bass has one of the best relic finishes I've ever seen, thanks to Gord Miller of GM Vintage Restorations. Gord also refinished a CS Jazz Bass for me: I went from the standard sunburst with a tort guard to fiesta red with a mint guard. That bass is sensational too.

Thanks--I'm surprised too, especially considering what "new" Custom Shop Relic basses sell for! (Or maybe they aren't selling right now.)

I don't see a pic of the front of the headstock, I'd like to see that.

Thanks.

I prefer a sale in the USA. As for a photo of the front of the headstock, I'll take one when I get back from the trip I'm on in a week. There is nothing odd about the headstock, though.

As requested, a close-up of the headstock has been posted plus an outside shot of the bass.

If you can find a way to get this bass to Europe i'll be more than happy to take it.
The tax and customs is killing the deal otherwise for me:-(

Consider this a bump!!;-)
