Okay, this is a 2008 Ken Smith BSR5GN. The specs are the same as the Black Tiger - figured/crotch black walnut with tiger maple core, Macassar ebony fingerboard, series/parallel switches, you know - the works. I ordered this from Ken Smith earlier this year, and it was delivered to me in April. (As you can see in the control cavity pic, Ken QC'd this bass on 4/21/08. Mint condition, it's only been played in church a couple times. It's a wonderful bass, and I'm only selling it because I just had a baby, and I don't really need it because my Celinder is what sees action on my gigs. Includes the original Smith hardcase and all case candy (wrenches, Smith strap and gold straplocks which have never been used, Smith polish and cloth, paperwork, etc.) $3300 shipped to the Continental US. Not really interested in trades at this time.
Here's a few pics: |

This is a REALLY good one IMO!!! |

If you can swing it at all, keep your Ken Smith. Children don't get cheaper, they just cost more and more, therefore, it might be smart to suck it up and keep your Ken Smith because it may be very difficult to replace it for a long time.
I am not a pro like you, but ten years ago I got rid of my Ken Smith and now with two little ones, a wife, and a mortgage, I have to rob Peter to pay Paul to get new MIA Fender, let alone a boutique.
The only reason I am posting is that I am a big fan of your Myspace page, and I feel a man with your talent deserves the best gear he can have.

I parted with a Smith a while back and am not sure that it was the right move. |

Besides Jason being a first rate player, he is a super nice guy too. It's funny talking to Jason. He's big enough to play in the NFL and could scare about 95 percent of the population if he chose to, but he's a quiet, soft spoken, genuinely nice guy. He definitely deserves to keep the Smith if there is any way he can swing it.

Of course, if it turns out that you're just not feelin' the bass, that's another story...

Well, I know that my Celinder is my number one bass and that is NEVER going anywhere, so the Smith is more of a luxury for me. We'll see! |
