Just curious how you fixed the neck string centering "issue" -- did it yourself or did you send it back to EB for repair? thanks

I contacted EB and discussed it with them, They informed me that it is as they manufacture them and is in fact by design. After discussion with EB and starting to get used to the bass, I decided that that no action was required. The bass is as it left the factory wih zero mods. I only listed this as I was very interested in a vintage fender I saw on here. As the fender has sold to someone else, I'm not so pressed to move the ray.

Oh.... my Classic ray was like that too. I just loosened the strings and neck bolts and pulled the headstock north (toward the upper horn) and held it there while I tightened the neck bolts back up. Then I tweaked the intonation a little..... perfect!

Edit: where's the pics?

Looks like the new Retro Burst (has more red on the edge vs black)

kick ass birdseye on that one!

I'm pretty sure it's called Tobbaco Burst.
Vintage Sunburst is EBMM's 3 tone sunburst while the 2011 Classics introduced a new finish called Retro Burst finish which is a 3TS where the black has been traded for a dark brown a' la the famous Stingray prototype with faded finish known as "Old Smoothie".

most likely T-burst. the Retro Bursts seem to have a smaller opaque area and the red is much more accentuated.

I'm sure you are right. I don't think it is retro burst. it was manufactured in 2010. the pics are pretty accurate as to the colors.

It's really confusing. Bass Central has a Tobacco burst that is pretty bright on the edges, absolutely no black whatsoever.

The finish you have seems like one of those. The NAMM 2010 video states that Tobacco Sunburst is one of the finishes, and that is the year the Classic came out. Yet, Bass Central's Tobacco Sunbursts don't seem to have the dark brown edge yours does.

It's like it has the edge of a Retroburst and the body color of a Tobacco Sunburst. Most likely just a finishing inconsistency, which sucks for me because it seems you have nicest looking one I've ever seen!

I just checked the Bass Central pics, and mine really does not have the red around the perimiter. It looks much closer to the tobacco, which is in line with the build date etc. But as you say they are all alittle different and it is a nice one.
