So, there's a guy locally selling a 65' P Bass - but unfortunately I blew a wad of cash recently buying a 67 Rivoli. And a 67' EB-2. Soooooo....
Just seeing if anyone might be interested in this - 72 P Bass SB/Rosewood. Pretty good condition, couple nicks and dings on the body and neck, but generally in pretty good condition for a 39 year old bass. I've had it for 15 years and as far as I can tell, the only non-original parts are the pots. At some point, someone added an additional string tree (gone now but the hole is still there). Missing PU/Bridge covers. Comes with a period case in beat up shape - needs a new handle (has a jury-rigged leather strap at the moment). Pretty light weight (a bit over 8 lbs) - plays and sounds great.
Looking for $1900, paypaled - buyer pays actual shipping. Con US only. Haven't done any selling here before, but have a good track record on ebay - user name is bge66.
Definitely get in touch with questions.
Also, if anyone is interested in a 67 Rivoli (unfortunately missing a 1/2 wide strip of headstock veneer - no idea why) let me know and I can post pics.

Thanks!

This will be gone by this time tomorrow. Wish I could be the one. |

I worked in MI for 10+ years - definitely wouldn't say I'm any sort of a vintage expert, but I have seen a bunch of P Basses over the years, and the finish looks original to me. The black portion of the burst is wider than most, but I have seen a few similar ones (mostly late 60's). But since I'm not the original owner, I can't tell you absolutely for sure that it hasn't been refined/over sprayed.
Posted some new pictures - neck pickup/under the guard at: 1972 P Bass - a set on Flickr

| | | | Again, as I stated in a previous post - I've had the pleasure of seeing a number of Vintage P's in my life - and my opinion is that the finish is original, but since I'm not the original owner, I have no way of knowing about what happened or didn't happen to the bass between the years 72-95. It is within the range of variations that I've personally seen in fender finishes.
Best I can do is post decent photos - which I've tried to do.
Thanks for looking. |

don't get me wrong, still a good price as long as the body is the actual body from that bass, just refinished. just think you should let people know it's refinished.
click here for the typical early 70's burst, the only kind I've seen, and I've seen alot. Fender Precision Bass 1972 sunburst |

There is too much red in the burst on the treble side under the pickguard, and there is no pickguard outline/fading. The finish seems too thin also.

Fender Precision Bass 1972 sunburst | I personally am not of the opinion that it is a refin, which is why I posted detailed pictures, and now, for the third time, am saying I did not own the bass between the years of 72-95 therefore cannot say with any certainty that it is a refin or not. Look at the pictures, make up your own mind. Buy, or don't buy.
