The good: Apparently original alder body, neck, pickup, pickguard, tuners & knobs. Old flats, new refret, brass nut , setup, wiring, pots & jack. 8.5 lbs, plays sweetly but I want a Jazz-width nut.
The bad: Poorly-done natural refinish(textbook orange peel over figured alder), added knob/pot for piezo PU allegedly(I never checked & the knob is not connected)under the first-gen BA bridge.
I paid BassNorthWest $1200 for this, had it refretted & the other work mentioned. Boyd Luthiery in Sacramento appraised it between $1300 & $1700; at $1500 I'd break even. I'll split shipping in the CONUS. Paypal preferred. Possible trades would involve a Geddy, A-neck Precision, a fretless 4/5 or..?
PM any questions. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3258/...ec8f27030c.jpg

Before you consider that, though, what's the nut width on your bass? If it's more than 1.5" then I'll definitely have to pass. Thanks very much for the offer, though.

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Chaska,MN | | so is this the real deal, made in 1973 P bass??
also i don't understand what you mean by "added knob/pot for piezo PU allegedly(I never checked & the knob is not connected)under the first-gen BA bridge."
i was playing one of those today at a shop and i'm going nuts over it!
Blue Warwick Corvette Proline 4 string?
MIM Fender Deluxe Active Jazz?(with hard case, brand new replacement fretless neck, BA bridge, new straplocks and professional setup head to tail)
get back to me on that |

| | | | Hmm Any interest in a blue, 1981 G&L L1000 fretless in excellent condition and or simmilar vintage fretted G&L L2000, mohagany & ebony board? Had to ask.
Cheers!

get back to me on that | According to the serial#(395261), BassNorthWest(where I bought this bass) and respected Sacramento luthier Woody Boyd, it is indeed a 1973 Precision. It certainly looks that old.
As for the extra knob, when I got it, it had been defretted & had a piezo under the bridge(again, I can't verify this & it's not hooked up). Piezos require a buffer to work w/magnetic PUs or at least a preamp to sound good through most bass amps; this was apparently setup w/a buffer or pre powered by a belt/strap-mounted box that connected to the piezo via a wire running into a small hole in the pickguard(now plugged w/a small rubber button). Woody replaced the pots and switch & wired it as close to stock as possible. removing the added knob would have meant filling an extra hole, so we decided to just leave it.
On the basses, offered, thank you but I have a nice 98 FNA, & the only Fender I'm really interested in right now would be an MIA or MIJ black-blocked maple neck Jazz 4.
Picky, yes, but you know musicians.
Thanks very much for the offer.

Tom | I like G&Ls but have not played many; for this deal I would really have to play them first. Where are you located?

| | *kidding* | | Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Northern California | | | Last bump for awhile I found a good use for this one, but I'll still consider any offers. I'm still interested in a Geddy or Jazz-like fretless. Thanks for all the offers.
Edit: 6/20 Closing due to waffleage. PM if you have any questions. Thanks.
