75 Reissue Jazz MIJ

Sign in to disble this ad
Here is a 1997 Fender 75 Reissue Jazz. In good shape for it's age, but has some dings, a little buckle rash including some scratches on the neck plate and a small ding on the back of the neck around the 7th fret. A small green dot on the back I can't figure out, but its the size of a felt tip pen. A little tarnishing on the hardware but not too bad. I'm going a little overboard for sake of disclosure, but it really is in good shape for a bass of it's age. It weighs 9lbs by the bathroom scale. Frets are good, truss functions well. It has a very slim neck similar to a 60's jazz and thinner than my 73. Comes with a beat up gig bag.

$750 shipped CONUS.

My pics aren't great, but I can take more if someone is interested.

Love the look of these 75 reissues with a rosewood board.

It's a 97 not an 85 or 86 lots of people get confused by these.
The serial number wasn't on the headstock on the A series made in the 80's
I have a 97 it's a great bass.

From what I read, a 97 would be 'Crafted in Japan' and that an 85-86 would be 'Made in Japan' as mine is?

Anyone else have more info?

TRUE! BUT! there are a "lot" (well i had three so...) A or B serial that actually inside are stamped with dates between 1997 and 1999 ( perhaps they found those partes 15 years later? )
i had a thread about it... Fender JB MIJ 75 RI A/B Serial (1985-86) BUT STAMPED AS LATE 90's ??? Jazz Bass

anyway... 1985 or 2010 and anything between these reissues are ALL great

How low will the action go? Can you get it nice and low along the entire length of the neck? I am interested. Feel free to PM your response or add it to the thread. Is the bridge pub '70's spacing'? How would you describe the tone?

It does not have 70's spacing. I remember people complaining about it being a 75 reissue with 60's spacing.

I have the action at medium to medium low. I don't see why you couldn't get it lower, the neck straightens out pretty nice.

Sounds like an ash bodied jazz gettin' slapped. I think brighter than my alder bodied '73?

Hope this helps.
