That's some serious Fender japan goodness happening there! This shouldn't last too long.

Doesn't have the 70s .400" closer bridge pickup spacing which make those 70s fenders sound nice n funky....maybe fender switched back to the 60s spacing by mid 70s....I know the famed geddy lee fender is based off a '72 n has that closer pickup. Makes quite a difference really, I bought a sadowsky uv70 for this reason and boy when u pluck over the bridge pickup u get sum phaaaat funky farty tone that brings back all those great funky root octave disco bass lines of the 70s. Great bass...can't beat the color with those blocks and bindings. U can also get some ridiculously low action on those with the 3 bolt micro tilt neck which when u start gettin that 20 fret buzz when going low u can put a smidge of tilt in her and keep lowering n adjusting till u buzz the fret by the nut. Great funk bass dude!!!

Yeah they seemed to do this series with 60s posn pickup early in the 2000's but moved it to the 70's posn in about 2005 (??). 60's is probably more authentic given the colour schemes they are (were?) running.

Awesome bass - I own one..... and quite hard to find, particularly this colour!

It sure is! I just don't play it because of the Pbass affliction I have. Yes, 60's spacing and comes in at 9.5 pounds on the digital bathroom scale.
