I have for sale a '77 Gibson Ripper in a natural finish. I won this in a local guitar shop giveaway, and although it does bring back great memories of my youth (I used to own a black one back in the mid 70's...ala Gene Simmons), it really doesn't fit my playing style any more.
Here's what I know about the bass....
The owner of the shop pretty much restored this whole bass. While the body/neck are obviously original, he installed new Grover tuners, all new electronics, replaced the chicken knob switch with a toggle switch, added a new bridge/bridge cover and switched out the pick ups. I swear he told me these were Corvus pickups (and they sound great), I'm trying to get verification from him. It will ship with a brand new Epiphone case.
This bass was definitely played, but it is still in great shape. It does have some wear on the back of the neck and the fret board, but it is honest wear and doesn't effect playing. The body is in terrific shape with a few bumps and bruises you'd expect to find on a 37 year old bass. I will admit, it is not a lightweight, and weighs in around 10 1/2 lbs.
If you are looking for a nice playing vintage Gibson and don't want to spend an arm and a leg, this is the bass for you.
Price is $700 shipped to the lower 48...payable through PayPal or a USPS Money Order.
While I'd prefer a cash deal, I may be open for a trade. A Lakland Skyline Hollowbody 30 would be perfect, but feel free to throw things at me...all I can say is no. I will tell you I'm a 4 string, fretted guy who likes thinner necks.
