TRADE IN PROGRESS
I just picked this up a couple weeks ago from TB'er Jefenator (who was really great to deal with BTW), and I regretfully have to put it back up for grabs. Here's the original FS thread, with lots of good details:
FS Feeler: Rare White Passive Steinberger XP-2
This is a bass I've coveted for many years, and I'm thrilled to have finally tried it out, but the neck profile is just too deep for my left hand to be comfortable. Everything else about it is stellar--the tone can go from burpy and biting to boomy and huge, and everywhere in between. The taut feel of the strings makes me think this would be great as a BEAD bass (or any other down-tuning) if you wanted. It only weighs about 8.25 lbs!
It's in the same great condition he described; there are some scuffs and small dings on the "points" of the wings, but nothing bad. The (passive) electronics are perfect, and the tone pot has a surprisingly wide usable range, better than any other passive tone I've tried.
There are nice clear photos in the original thread; here's a silly one of me posing with it to show the surprisingly awesome balance of the bass:
Other photos on request. As in the original thread, it includes a couple set of strings, a strap, and adjustment wrenches. Jefenator was also kind enough to buy me a
brand new padded gig bag for it, and that will of course be included.
Looking to get exactly what I paid: $675 plus shipping. You are welcome to offer trades, but (a) I can't add any cash on top, it would have to be either an even trade, or one where I get money plus the trade; and (b) I'm not looking for any amps, cabs, SX or other "budget" brands (aside from maybe a vintage JV Squier or something cool like that), or any 35" or longer scale length. In addition to basses, I'm always interested in exotic effects, preamps, and signal processors. An API-type lunchbox rack would be sweet, too. For Fender-style basses, it would have to either be a 5-string, or a 4 with a C-width neck (1.75" nut).
Let me know if you have any questions!
