I've posted this twice before; the first time I didn't get trade options I wanted to accept and the second time I discovered that the higher frets were buzzing, so I pulled it. Here are those threads with pics:

FT: 81 Precision Special (11 pounds) Lots of pics

Trade *FEELER* 81 Precision Special CAR (with pics and details)

The buzzing has been taken care of by Rob at Custom Shop Guitar & Bass (I found a new luthier, YAY! now if he were only closer to Pflugerville). The action is on the medium side and quite comfy, but bending the G string far enough will cause it to fret out (low radius).

The preamp is to be considered dead. It is in the bass at the moment (functional if all you care about is volume and basic tone control), but it really needs to be snapped in half and tossed in the trash.

I am told the pickup is not original based on the pictures. I make no claims there, I bought the bass used. For all I know it's all Warmoth with Fender decals and a crazy relic job. The bass looks good in person but the finish looks a bit like an orange peel up close. It can probably be wet sanded and buffed smooth and I was sorely tempted to do so, but I'm not sure how the finish would hold up to that treatment.

The finish is all original except for the fingerboard; the frets were pulled and replaced a few times to try and resolve the buzz problem. The fingerboard has been resprayed.

The DiMarzio pickup in the black pickguard shot is gone (I think, haven't seen it in weeks, don't remember what I did with it).

Hardware all appears to be original except for the thumbrest (I have a new gold one with the Fender logo on it that will come with the bass) and the strap buttons. I don't know if either of the black pickguards it came with are original, one is layed out as a Special and the other as a normal P bass. The pickguards have the screw holes in the same place so there are no extra holes in the body. I had the 2 white pickguards made, and the while pearloid was made using the Special picguard without the extra holes (so if you get a working Special preamp you could make the holes and fit the preamp without any alignment trouble). Basic hard shell case included.

If any of the information doesn't match the other ads or if you have any questions let me know and I'll do what I can to address them.

Now what do I want for this bass? Well I have plenty of basses at this time and may post another one if I move this one. If a bass is to be considered it should be a 6 or 6 string. Active or passive are fine, I tend to like medium to narrow spacing. I don't mind project basses. +/- some money is okay, just keep it reasonable.

I'm also interested in guitars; Guild or other 12 string acoustic (low action a must, jumbo preferred), Gibson ES125 (cutaway. dual pickup) or ES135 would bowl me over (P90s a plus). I can't think of a Les Paul that would be cheap enough to be traded that I would be interested in except possibly a Smartwood. Guild Bluesbird. I don't mind project guitars, so if you have one missing parts or needing minor work please let me know. Cracked neck = minor, missing headstock = no way.

I am also interested in a bass amp. No MarkBass! A Boogie Pulse or D-180, or a TC Electronic would be interesting.

Cash would be nice if you are local, $800 would be my bottom line. Local interested parties are welcome to check the bass out first. I am not setup to receive money on PayPal. I would prefer to deal with an established TB member, trades with a new member or one without a decent feedback rating (buying a set of strings from someone is not enough!) will require they send me their item first, longtime members with good feedback can expect me to offer to send my bass first for inspection. If you decide to decline the trade you must pay for return shipping and insurance. I hope this does not violate any TB rules!

All righty then, let's see if the third time is the charm!

I am looking to move the bass due to the amount of basses I currently have (11, 4 of them 4 strings basses I don't play) and a recent interest in obtaining an LBS Prosound 1X15. With that in mind I would also consider a trade + money depending on the trade item. I have a couple of offers already but am hoping for something that will better fit the bill.

I listed $800 as my rock bottom price and I am not setup for PayPal. I am pretty flexible tho. In and out (mostly out) this weekend so replies will be delayed. I had another interested party who was new to the forums with no feedback but he apparently didn't like my conditions.
