Lightbulb '82 'Hog/Rosewood L-2000E

Got GAS.. so, up on the block is my L-2000E. Mahogany body, tobaccoburst finish, rosewood fretboard. The maple neck has some nice figuring and birdseye; nut width is 1 11/16". Headstock is the old school original style, and the neck has the walnut skunk stripe. Body has some finish checking and some player wear. I believe the finish is poly. The control plate, bridge, battery cover and neck plate have the smooth black finish. All switch tips are intact, and the correct hard-to-find control knobs are bight and shiny. Weight is slightly over 10lbs on my fish scales. Hangs nicely and balances well. Feels lighter on the shoulder than you might expect. All in all a really sweet example of a very early L-2000.

These early Leo Fender era G&L's are really something. This bass has thunder for days and lots of definition. Neck is comfortable, no rough fret ends, Frets look great - plenty of fret life. Action is low with no buzzing. Neck is straight with no issues.

Lots of pics here: http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l1...ns2006/L2000E/

$875 shipped to the lower 48 in a nice EB/MM plastic hardcase or $950 shipped in a correct early G&L Tolex w/ the brown fur, very good condition with all 4 feet intact. *******SOLD********

is the middle switch "dual parallel, and single coil with bass boost?"
should be in an E series...

had an 81 just like it.

Wait... there are other modes besides "bass boost"? Don't think I've ever used 'em!

..seriously though, the answer to your question is "yes"

What's the difference in sound between a standard L2000 and this beast? I love my L2K's, my L1K & my El Toro.....how does this compare?

The biggest difference is the ability of the early L2000E's to switch into single coil with "bass boost" mode... the "OMG!" mode for those in the know (as on the early L-1000's and now some current G&L offerings have this ability). There was a long stretch in G&L history where this function was dropped. Recent clamoring by the faithful seems to have brought it back. Secondary pluses are the sound of the mahogany. The single coil with bass boost really needs to be experienced. I am a poor explainer of sound. It's house crushing, and it's GOOD

+1-It eliminates the dreaded highs and gives you all the benefits of an active sound without losing the organic feel of a single coil-passive tone.

A mahogany body will focus on more of the note fundamental and less on the overtones and harmonics. The result is a deeper sound acoustically that translates well through the highly sensitive MFD pickups.

House crushing? Yup!

Deal

HOG and OMG and great condition plus the cool look a' all dem switches for under 900.00. I can vouch for the seller as a straight dealer but all you gotta do is check his feedback! Got too many basses or I would buy it.

Dang! This sounds amazing! I really want to hear this thing. My L2K is an '87 with a treble boost. It's OK since I'm playing tech metal right now, but this thing sounds more my type...

My typical story....after "dwelling" on it for a couple days, and talking it over with my wife, I log on today planning on buying this....and it's sold! I'm always a day or two late....but it's probably a good thing, I don't really need another bass!
