Hey guys I have yet another one of my precisions up for sale ,a rarer JV "Japanese Vintage" Fender P bass, I've been doing research and I've learned this one is modeled after a 62 ri, I was actually surprised due to the standard mij headstock logos but no,the early mij's had this style of logo and were supposed to have 60s specs. I have to say there is something different about this jv and the numerous e series basses I've owned and my 90s mij 62 reissue,The neck on this one feels more solid and full in my hands but still has the rounded radius which feels very comfortable with a perfect fret job. The finish on the neck is like a light satin ,like the newer 08 fender basses, where its finished but u can still feel the wood pretty well.Way more comfortable than the thick laquer used on my 90s ri. There are no fret spouts or sharp ends, like mostly all mij's. I actually have a musican pre eb stingray neck to compare it to and it has the same feel and comfortable taper but with the p being a bit chunkier. It also has the standard big plated tuners as well as weighing out to 8 pounds on my bathroom scale consistent with most of the mij ps I've owned.
The bass is amazing outright although its a player and has its share of dings and scrapes, starting with the neck there are numerous small pebble sized dings that have filled with debris or dirt ,however I'm sure this happened years ago and the dings have seemed right in and are hardly felt. The rest of the neck has a good worn in feel consistent with a near 30 year old bass. The frets are in good condition with very little visible wear again with no uneven ends, the neck itself is straight with a good setup with low action. The body also has wear the worst being a large paint chip on the side near the tone controls. Theirs also some usual light swirling throughtout the as well as a painted over ship on the lower horn theirs a couple various scruffs too, everything I can't really descibe will be pictured, but overall on a scale of 1 to 10 id give this baby a cool 7.5 ,considering its age.
So I would usually keep the better mij stuff I find, but I'm already decided I want to keep my 90s mij 62 , I love the finish a bit more, however the neck on the 83 is way more comfortable and solid by a good amount.
As for the price, I'm basing it off my percieved value of the 90s, the last and only time I had it for sale i listed it at $550 and was gonna get it before I pulled out. So although its a rarer bass than my 90s, I want to factor in the condition which I feel should make them in the same price range and ask for $600 shipped. So if ur intereted please pm me,as for trades,I'm already sitting on a neck I really want a body for, so right now ithe only thing id for sure trade for is a mia eb loaded body,or maybe even possibly a sterling by musicman and some cash ,straight trade if its a classic. Will have pics soon ,o and will ship it in a roadrunner heavily padded gigbag, which I personally love.

As far as i can tell, everything looks to be original, the bridge and tuners look have an aged looked consistent with the bass so im sure those are original, the frets have to be original because i cant fins any signs or a refret also. And the pickguard has those 2 holes on the side of the pickups for the pickup cover so the guard has to be for the bass.

Do you have the metal pickup cover? Also, does the bass come with a hard case?
Thanks,
