'83 Peavey T-40 - now for sale or trade

Sign in to disble this ad
1983 (I think) Peavey T-40, made in USA. You know the deal on these, and all of it is true: tonal versatility like you wouldn't believe, and weight to match. It'll sound like any bass you want it to, and I don't have an accurate scale but it's heavy.

The finish might be stripped, as it appears to have no clear coat (although a fellow TBer says this may be original?). Otherwise it's all original. Everything works, and it's a good player. The only issues are a little scratchiness in the switches (need cleaning), and you can see a small spot where a previous owner glued a crack on the plastic pickup mounting ring (bridge pickup). No case, other than a beat-up chipboard thing that I can ship it in for a little extra protection.

I'll sell it for $295 plus actual shipping (you pay me the 295, I ship it, then I send you the shipping amount and you pay that), but I'm very interested in trades too. Looking for anything interesting in trade: old hollowbody, old MIJ Yamaha/Ibanez/whatever, oddball stuff. Also interested in vintage Precision parts (body, neck, guard, pickup, etc.) Maybe a Classic Vibe Squier, or maybe even some amp gear (lightweight cab especially). Let me know what you have..I'm not into modern looking basses really, but doesn't hurt to inquire about anything.

Got a deal in the works on this one, so let's mark it "pending payment".

Well, there still may be a possible deal going down on this bass, but I'm not totally sure. So if anyone's interested, please don't hesitate to hit me up with cash or trade offers. Thanks!

A variety of trade offers coming in, but I'm not totally sold on anything quite yet. Cash is still good too, but run anything by me - thanks so far, everyone!

You know what I'd really like for this bass? (Well, a good cash offer first of all...but..) A P style bass that is around or under 9 lbs., like an MIM or MIJ Squier, or MIJ Yamaha BB or Ibanez Roadstar. Yep.

Beautiful bass, fantastic condition. I have a T-40 just this clean, and it is a tone monster.

Look at the headstock shot on this one and you get a good idea how clean this bass really is.

Free bump, by the way, by a Peavey fan.

More interest overnight, but still waiting for that actual pull of the trigger...so back to the top it goes!

I'm very interested in this but the "chipboard thing for a little extra protection" makes me nervous. Can you elaborate?

Honestly I'd rather ship it without a case. The one i got with it doesn't fit well and it would probably be easier to pack without it. And believe me, you're not missing much.

Sure, I don't care about the case, I'm just not clear on how it will be protected from shipping.

Oh, gotcha. Well, I've shipped many basses without cases. A proper box and a lot of packing will go a long way.
