85 Steinberger XP2 FS/FT

85 Steinberger XP2, plays and sounds great. I replaced the pickguard with a new custom one. It's called "purple candy crush" and was made by Chandler Guitars Pickguard Heaven. I like it because it looks like Abilone, the pic doesn't really do it justice. It is set up like an XP2A- the upper section by the bridge removes for battery replacement without removing the entire guard. The original is rough, but included with the pots still on it. I also replaced the headpiece with a new Stainless Steel one that allows the use of single or double ball strings. The original headpiece is included also. Will ship in a new condition Synapse gig bag, which fits perfectly. I've installed a Bartolini 2 band 9 volt preamp, wired volume, blend and treble/bass stack, the pups are the original passive EMG's. Hipshot knobs and a new set of GHS strings are included. I'd planned to keep this and doll it up some more, but finances dictate I move this as I have 2 fretted 4's and need a fretless. The bridge can be re-furbished by the fellas at headlessusa.com, It's fully functional, just looks like it's 25 years old. The body has the dings and scratches of an old bass, but they're not too bad. The base of the leg rest is there, but the swing out part needs to be replaced. The bass can be returned back to stock with no hassles. PM me with an email address for additional pictures.

Open to trades for 4's (preferred) or 5's (maybe-34"scale only) unlined fretless basses. Basses of lesser value are fine- a bass plus cash or pedals deal (Micro Pog, envelope filters, etc) would be cool. $800.00 shipped ConUS. Paypal OK.

Grab this while you can! I have one and absolutely love it! Bought it as a travel bass and it instantly became my favorite. I had an L2, but much prefer the XP's tone. Amazing instrument!

FWIW Jeff, I mounted a fretless Moses neck on my XP-2 & stored the fretted neck. I doubt I could buy a better fretless for the $$. 8-)

thanks for the props and info fellas. I had a Jazz fretless with a Moses neck. It was great, but I wanna get a wood necked fretless next. I'll also be glad to hang onto this if the right offer doesn't roll in- it is uber cool.

Bump for an old fave of mine!

Great to see my old axe fixed up!

I owned this bass for almost all of the 2000s and she's a great one.

considering selling my 1988 MIJ Fretless Fender Jazz (Black, unlined, great condition), but might be willing to trade. Is this up your alley?
