'90 Alembic Elan 5-string, cherry burst, FLAWLESS!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
up for sale is one of my many basses I've fallen into in the search for the perfect bass. It's a 1990 Alembic Elan 5-string in cherry burst finish. maple body, flamed maple top, and 7-piece maple/purpleheard neck. The bass is in DEAD MINT condition. It has all paperwork with it including build sheet/unfilled warranty card, q-filter instructions, '90 Alembic catalog, Elan info sheet, and truss rod adjustment sheet. The Ebony fingerboard is adorned with 24 perfect frets and standard alembic oval inlays. It comes in its original form fitted blue lined alembic case. The nut is height adjustable and measures 1.75" (B-G) and the spacing at the bridge is a narrow, but comfy 2.25" (B-G). The humcancelling Alembic P-J pick ups are run into an alembic Q-filter for electronics and it also has a volume and blend control. The neck is a 34" scale and speaking of scales the bass weighs in at 10 lbs on the bathroom scale. I simply cannot emphasize how great of condition this is in! The brass hardware still shines like it just came off the buffing wheel and the gold hardware sparkles like the day it left the factory (Which according to the build sheet was 10-26-90). I always disclose any wear, nick, ding or bump, but this thing has NONE of them, NONE!!! 110% perfect condition. Price out what a new alembic with similar features would cost and be prepared to sell off a kidney or two to pay for it! This one is new in all things but name and can be had for a fraction of the cost of a new Alembic.
Asking $2700 + shipping from 45241
Sorry no trades on this guy, time to move some stuff!

My bud has an Elan from the same time period. I haven't seen or played the bass you are selling, but his Elan, to this day, is the nicest bass I've ever played. I'm old and I've owned and played a bunch of boutiques. Some were outstanding, but his is still number one. (and that was over 15 yrs ago) The word that comes to mind when thinking of that bass is effortless. If yours is even close to his, someone is going to get a gem.

I'm sure he did! I know he had a signature alembic for a limited run that I believe was this body style, but I have been known to be wrong.

Wow, awsome. I had forgotten that his old alembic had J/P/J config. That must have been sick. Jason is a great player for sure. But unfortunatley the few people I have talked to that have hung with him or met him said he is a complete *@^% head. But a great player with great basses and a killer sound.
Good luck selling yours
