90's Gibson made Tobias Killer B 5 string that I purchased in in the mid - late 90's (probably '97 or '98, I think) that has never been out of the house (non-smoking environment).
Beautiful lacewood body,
Bartolini pickups and electronics (same as on Tobias Basics, Classics and Signatures)
34" scale
17mm string spacing at the bridge
Hardshell Tobias case
Not a mark or scratch on the bass. Some of these basses (including a Classic that I own) had some neck problems...this one hasn't need adjustment since I first got it. As you can see, it still has the plastic cover on the electronics compartment. This bass plays and sounds almost identical to the the more expensive neck through Basics, Classics and Signature models, but sold for about $1000 less when new.
$1200 shipped in CONUS, paypal is cool

I am not sure if it is the woods, or the shape, or the design, or some combination of all of the above, but all Tobias and MTD basses that I have ever held have been on the lighter side. |

I don't think the Arkansas plant was in production at that time. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Tobias production start in Arkansas when Gibson shut down musicyo.com and reintroduced the USA made Tobias bass line? |
