Up for sale is a 1997 5-string Hamer Cruise Bass with the infamous 2Tek bridge. You will see in the pictures the bass started its life with factory installed EMG pickups and an active preamp. A few years back the bass ditched the EMGs and picked up a custom made set of Aero jazz bass pickups specific for the Hamer's string spacing (Aero J Bass 5 Type 1 - $250) and passive V/V/T controls. It also got a cosmetic makeover with the red pearl pickguard (thanks to Jeannie Pickguards) and the matching control knobs. At times in its life it has been strung BEADG (as it was from the factory) and it also has spent some time EADGC - sounds terrific both ways.
You will note that there are two dings on the bass - both shown in closeup. There is one on the back side of the upper horn that has been filled by a previous owner. There is a more recent one on the front side by the neck pocket that I have not filled.
With this sale I will provide: (1) the bass as shown strung BEADG with the red pickguard, red topped knobs and Aero pickups; (2) the original white pearl pickguard; (3) generic gig bag or used hard shell case.
Asking $725 shipped with gig bag, $750 shipped with hard shell case.

Unfortunately, I don't know how many people realize how great Aero pickups are. I'm a huge fan myself (as a Lakland DJ5 owner), and also really like these Cruise basses. Good luck wth the sale! |
