Acacia Custom 5-string, burled redwood t/b, 34-35" fanned frets, INCREDIBLE!

I can't believe I'm doing this. I REALLY Can't believe I'm doing this.

For Sale: One of the gems of my collection, one of the finest basses ever made, a work of functional art by a luthier of the highest caliber:

Acacia Custom 5-string, burled california redwood top and back, mahogany body core, neck through wenge/ebony/mahogany neck with Snakewood fingerboard, 24 fanned frets going from a 34"-35" scale with 5th fret perpendicular fret (which is way more comfortable and functional then the Dingwall style fan), Brazilian rosewood bridge with brass saddles, bartolini MM + soap bar pick ups, John East U-retro pre-amp, Hipshot D-tuner on the B-string. The body is a modified Custom style with a shorter lower horn and has the Gruv style 4+1 headstock. The bass also has custom carved thumbrests between the pick ups, and maple veneers between every piece of wood. This thing is one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen, let alone owned. The tone is naturally compressed and biting, like an early warwick, but fuller with a bigger bottom end. it records insanely well and cuts through a mix like a katana sword. The 34-35" fan is so ergonomically sound that if you played it blind folded you wouldn't know that you're playing a fanned fret bass, but would wonder why you were able to play a bass so well blindfolded Sadly though I've found that wenge necks and I don't agree. I recently picked up another acacia that suits my tone ever so slightly better so it doesn't make sense to keep this any longer (though I won't be heart broken if I keep it) The bass comes with a beat up, but functionally perfect (minus one latch) fender HSC that gives it plenty of protection.

Asking $2700 + shipping from 45241

So, you finally give me a chance at this baby and I'm broke. Your timing sucks Justin.

BTW people, this bass plays itself and sounds incredible, just so you know.

wow Justin can't believe that you are doing this... A couple weeks ago I was at Brian's and tried the Acacia 10 that he has... Matt's work is killer.

We need to get together, next time I'm up in Cincy... Oh, sorry about the Reds yesterday.

Will do, since I moved from ATL to Lexington, I'm closer to Nati... I guess this means I get to come to the TB GTG's up there. If either of you are in LEx, let me know!

I'm sure we'll be setting the date for the spring GTG here soon. We'll need to get everybody here! That 10-string is incredible. I owned it for about 4 years and it broke my heart to sell it, but such is life. If did buy a lot of tools and hopefully I'll earn enough with those tools to buy it back someday

Oh and Matt, I take trades! (no children please)

I'd love to have this bass, but I don't have $2700.

How is this even here? Should be in a museum or something...absolutely gorgeous.

PS What is snakewood?
