So I'm still on the fence about selling this baby, its got to be one of the best jazz basses I've owned but I have a 68 j bass that is fullfilling my two pup needs. I've always loved the mij reissues and couldn't think they can get better but the american versions are really something special.

So up for your consideration is a 62 jazz RI in black and tort, upgraded with a fender elite bridge and fender lace sensor pickups. The neck is flawless with no nicks ,scrapes or any type of wear on the back. I tried to picture how clean it is. The fretboard does have little signs of wear, the frets are in great shape with very minor impressions.
The rosewod is dark and nice with interesting grain and the truss rod has plenty of play left.I just slappes some eb super slinkies on it and t is set up with low action and was just intonated .

The body is in great shape with the nitro only beggining to wear near the belly cut. There are minor dings and impressions throughout the finish but they are all superficial and are pictured below.

The pups and bridge were replaced and imho the lace sensors sound great ,they have a very full ,growly tone and sound great soloed. The stacked knobs make it very versatile,I've heard the stacked knob configuration sounds different in which the mids are more present and has an overall darker tone, I can't confirm this ,but it definately sounds a bit punchier than my 68 jazz which is comparatively a bit thinner sounding to my ears.

The bridge is actually quite nice with the ability to lock down the string ends to secure the tunings. The whole base plate surrounds the saddles so there is no way of side to side movement to occur.

Included is a no name hardshell case, Unfortunately I do not have the original bridge or pickups,Id like to get $850 shipped and insured inside the conus. Please pm me for offers. As for trades,Id really like to sell this ,however I am a sucker for a AVRI 62 P,possibly a G&L ASAT ,but I generally prefer single pup basses

Ok so I pulled the neck and I was dead wrong about the 2003 date, I used the serial number to conclude that date, so there is a black ink stamp at the but however, half of the year is not visible, although it looks like a 1994, I doubt it could be a 1984 fullerton reissue as the serial is way too high. I've provided pics but I'm gonna play it safe and say its a 94 AVRI

date looks like 1988, during the time they started building AVRI at the new Corona building after fullerton was closed down.

I've been watching this thread mostly because I have a twin sister to this one that was built in 2000. Mine also has a corresponding date in the neck pocket, so you might look there. Also, I notice that the decal on yours is slightly different from most I've seen: the "Contour Body" sticker is in a different location, and the "Jazz Bass" text is straight instead of having a slight arc to it. That might provide a clue to the build year if anyone knows the finer details of Fender's decal history.

BTW, I love mine--the av neck is to die for, and I think this one listed here should make whoever buys it very happy.

Hey yeah the earlier fullertons had the "contour decal" near the jazz logo, that's why I know this was of a later make, the serial is in the 70,000's too, The body might of had something printed in there but I couldn't find anything I could make out.

And I am in the LA area.
