AZOLA Jazzman 4-String - Ash body, Maple FB, Duncan MM Pickup

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD!

This is a sweet, handmade bass by Steve Azola (info here: www.azola.com). The Jazzman I is a Jazz w/a twist - it uses a Seymour Duncan MM/Stingray pickup and combines it with an 18V 3-band Duncan active preamp. Bass Player said this bass has "clear present highs riding warm, punchy lows"..."rich, growly character". I agree, this bass is super punchy and can go from rich, warm lows to super-aggressive modern tones. Has a push/pull mid contour circuit on the volume know ("slap switch"). Neck is a oval Jazz style (1.5" nut) and is dead straight, frets are excellent. The action is very low with some newer nickel rounds.

The bass is in excellent condition; no dings, nicks or gouges. Just very light scratches here and there. The bass originally had a long ebony thumbrest (attached with adhesive). I don't use it, so I took it off. I'll include with the bass. An older, rectangular molded Fender case is included (bass fits perfectly). Bass is incredibly light (around 8 lbs). Cost $1299 back in 98! I'll include a copy of the Bass Player review with the bass.

Specs:
Body: Swamp Ash
Neck: One piece Maple neck
Frets: 21 medium
Pickups: Seymour Duncan Basslines MM Stingray humbucker
Preamp: 18V Duncan Preamp
Controls: Volume (Push/Pull slap switch), Bass, Mid, Treble
Scale: 34"
Bridge: Hipshot
Tuners: Hipshot Ultralite

Selling for $750 shipped in the US. International shipping is no problem, just PM for quote.

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, truss rod is at the neck heel, neck must be removed for adjustment. Neck is dead straight right now with low action.

I think I have the same(if not, at least very similar)PU & pre in my FNA:

It is VERY powerful. If this bass was up FS when I had the dough I'd have really tried to convince myself of a need for two MM-style 4s.

Jealous of the person who scores this bump.

Tony's a great seller, don't hesitate to dive in.
