Hi Folks.
I am on vacation but plan to list some esoteric basses (naturally!) for sale as soon as I get back home on Labor Day. In the interest of vetting out demand I thought I would put up this thread on what I have with tentative prices to see if there is any interest. I would be happy to sell some this week to anyone who can wait until Tuesday or Wednesday for shipping as well. And I may have more coming up but for now I am keeping the list to an even half dozen.
So, feeler for sale are (drumroll..)
1) Heartfield DR4 in Blue. Great overall shape, just a couple of minor chips and dings toward the bottom of the bass. Great feel and balance. Last week I gave this bass a fret polish and a nice low action set up and restrung her with Hartke lights so she is now slapping and popping herself practically. This one comes with a trapezoidal shaped gig bag. Asking $375 shipped CONUS.
2) Peavey Dyna Bass Neck Through (Unity series) - Black with P/J configuration. A players bass in the sense that there is dulling from pick wear and arm wear in the usual spots, but the black finish hides it well and its overall a good looker. Also missing one original knob and another has missing ribber trim. Both can probably be replaced by Peavey as they have cracker-jack customer service and tech support departments. Most significant issue is that the prior owner had drilled a strap button in the lower horn. Easily touched up if you want to. In all this bass is a pleasure to play. Countoured body, electronics, top grade harware, MOP dot markers, and neck through design share key elements with the greatest PEavey basses from the heyday-- the Sarzo, TL series, etc. I am asking $285 shipped CONUS no case but will be packed bomb proof. Here are pics (clickable thumbnails):
3) Fender Precision Bass Lyte - Metallic red, MIJ. All original but the caps have come off of 3/4 of the knobs. Gold hardware with the usual wear for a 23 year old bass. Some dings and finish peeling by the headstock. A players bass but not chewed up. Comes with original (I think) Tolex case. Asking $375 shipped CONUS.
4) Fender Jazz V MIM 5 string- Olympic White. This is the earlier version which I, and many other TBers prefer. It has the 5-in-line headstock to preserve the classic Fender look and has the lighter weight Gotoh tuners for better balance. Light rosewood board. The newer version has a 4+1 headstockwtih the heavier vintage style tuners. True 18mm jazz string spacing which is great on a 5 string. Great overall shape, just a couple of minor dings on the very back. Gets a 9.5/10 or better. Asking $475 shipped conus. No case but packed bombproof. Here are the pics:
5) Peavey G Bass in OHSC (I think!) - Subtle metallic red finish and mint condition in Peavey hard case. Graphite neck. Light as a feather (about 7.5 lbs) and great balance. 18v electronics. Pao Farro fingerboard. 35 inch scale. One pickup in the sweet spot. Killer electronics. Essentially a Modulus Flea Bass for a small fraction of the price. ONly flaw is finish starting to wear and looks like it may peel at the headstock. Barely noticeable for now. Asking $400 shipped CONUS though I am not sure I can let this one go just yet.
6) Ibby ATK- Sold!
As I mentioned earlier, I may also have some others for sale in the next couple of weeks but for now this is the short list. Feel free to PM with questions or offers. Trades are not preferable but I am amenble to reasonable or generous trade offers for basses that have the same cool/quirk factor and/or are made in Japan.
Thanks.
