Back on the block: Spector Euro 6 LX Poplar Burl.

Sign in to disble this ad
New thread since I can't edit or delete the old one any longer.
Puting this back up for sale as some things have changed for me.

This bass plays and sounds great.
I'm a Spector guy, but I don't like Gloss finishes (my other Spectors are natural).
I bought this bass as it was an opportunity that presented itself when I was searching for a Spector 6, but I just can't get used to the Gloss.
If you're into Poplar Burl, it doesn't get much better than this one. Even other Spector owners with Poplar that have seen this one go "Wow"!
It looks like the surface of Mars from orbit on the body close up where you can really see all the figuring. I've never seen another Poplar Burl figured like this one.

Not a mark except for an extra strap peg hole at the bottom (Centered as opposed/in addition to Spector's normal off-set. Can be covered with a screw or extra option strap button).
Low action. EMG DC's. Spector Tone Pump pre. The B string in the pix sticks out due to a spacer I put on the string (No, not for the same reason Gary Willis used to do this ) and has nothing to do with the bridge.
35" scale. 17mm string spacing.

SOLD! Thanks chepo6.
$1500 shipped (PayPal>Personal>Payment to avoid the heavier fees) in the continental US. Double boxed, ready for war.
I do have a Spector 6 string sized (molded to the body) case that I am reluctant to sell as I've found Spector no longer makes them. However, these are $165 at best if you can even find an NOS version. I will sell it with the bass shipped inside for another $75.

POSSIBLE TRADES:
1. Any Spector US bolt on 6 string in a natural or matte finish. These seem to be going for $1200-$1600 used so we're in the same ballpark.
2. Any Spector US or Euro neck thru 6 string in a natural or matte finish.

Other "possible" trades:
1. A Legend 6 + cash if it's been updated to EMG DC's or 45P or 45J's is a remote possibility.
2. One of the US bolt on 5's with the wide (19mm) spacing.

Also looking for a Markbass Little Mark Tube 800 which could be used in place of any "+ cash" in a possible trade deal.

Thanks

Here's some pix. I can take better, more detailed if someone needs to see something.

Yeah, I saw that video.
I would have almost thought he used this one for that filming.

Yea, I posted it in the Spector thread and after you said something I realized they did look VERY similar.

Good luck with the sale man.

I can slap on it if I don't get too wild. I know there are a lot of guys out there that have no trouble with 17mm or even smaller. 17mm is probably the most common for 5 and 6 strings of most brands.

Weight? It seems to put exactly 10lbs on me when I hold it on my bathroom scale (Health 'O' Meter, but still a bathroom scale).

Your bass would make a cool stablemate for this...

I wish I could pull the trigger but I haffta pass.
I've just blown the bank on that entire rig.

That is one VERY sweet looking bass, though.
You'll have NO prob selling that beauty.

You know you want it. You have to have it. It will eat at you until you get it.

Actually, I had it up for sale before and changed my mind because it does play so darned well. It was only the possibility of being able to snag a natural finished one (here on TB) that matches this (except this is a Euro4 with solid Maple wings):

that made me put it back up. Oddly, the guy who posted the natural one nearly a week ago has had no activity (as of this post) since.

What kind of cab is that?

D'Addarios have their outer windings at odd lengths.
The regular long scales, the outer winding doesn't quite make it over the nut on a Spector 35" scale (although I've heard a rumor they have extended these by 1/4" which would solve this for 35" scale Spectors at least).
On the SL's (Super Longs, being used here), the winding goes too far and begins to wrap around the tuning peg (B string). Causing reduced tuning ratio and pitch instability. The little spacers simply move the string back so the outer winding doesn't hit the peg.

You know, I had a Lakland come to me once that was strung with D'Addario SL's and the B string was SO floppy. I tried to put on some regular D'Addarios, but they were too short. I again bought some SL's and had the same problem as the strings that came on them. It was like the SL's were too long.

Hmmm,
I owned a Lakland 55 for a couple of years and using these same strings (XL170's, SL, with a .125 B, not the .130 usually found in the 5 and 6 string sets of that gauge) I never had any trouble with floppiness. The outer winding also wasn't a problem as the bridge used up more string between the anchor and saddle break point than the Spector bridge does.
