Basket case '83 Alembic spoiler. 32" scale, 3-piece maple neck, mahogany body wings (maybe koa? Hard to tell and I haven't check with Alembic for the specs), with OHSC
The Good: It's got Alembic tone, the bass is structurally sound. The pick ups work, the neck moves the way it should, and all the parts are there (bridge, tail piece, logo, truss rod cover, nut, etc)
The bad: this thing is beat. The volume pot needs replaced, the finish is jacked up (looks like somebody may have attempted a re-fin ages ago on it in places), there are several war wounds, the worst being a large booger on the back of the neck behind the 2nd fret, the control cavity cover is cracked, the 9th fret inlay is missing (and poorly replaced). This just feels like the tip of the iceberg...
I bought this with the intentions of stripping it, filling the boogers, re-finishing it black (al 'a Newsted), replacing the volume pot, and then bringing it back to life as a new beast. But alas, I'm busier than Santa's elves on December 23rd. That being said I don't have time for a project like that. I'm going to leave this up for a week, maybe two, then start the unthinkable: I'm going to part it out.
Before I do the unthinkable though, I'll take $900 fully intact and shipped in the lower 48 for it. If it's still here in a few weeks it's chop shop time!
