Bass Sale Extravaganza! 8 Basses, 1 Body, 2 Guitars

The Great Bass Sell-Off

I’ve long entertained the idea of selling off all of the basses that I never play, but I constantly put it off, as I’m a bit of a hoarder. The day has finally come where I’ve come to grips with my demons, and I’m prepared to let go.

So that means some really fantastic basses are up for sale for not all that much bread! Lucky you!!!!!!

I CAN GET ANY DETAILS/SOUNDCLIPS/PICTURES UPON REQUEST!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PM ME!!!!!!

Specs will be bold for those who want to skip the history

KUBICKI 84 P bass

I’ll start with the crème de la crème, my ‘84 Phillip Kubicki P bass. I don’t know much of the history of these basses, but I take it that before he got into the factor basses, he produced Fender Copies. Damn good ones at that (if this is representative of his other basses in this vein). I bought the bass about 7 years ago because I was so blown away by it. Sold off 2 of my basses (half my collection at the time!!!) to get it.

When I bought it, it was white. I like to think I’m not a boring guy, so I got fed up with it, and a little over a year ago, I had a friend do some custom paint to it. Not the worlds cleanest work, but I truly think it’s beautiful (I really like the homemade vibe that it has. The paint looks very natural), and the original paint was beginning to wear away pretty severely in my eyes.

So enough of all that, here’s the details.
I believe the body is swamp ash, but I’m not entirely sure. The bass is pretty Light
The neck is super comfy, maple/ebony with a 14” Radius.
Badass II bridge
EMG PjX pickups (Originally an OLD set of normal EMGs. Upgraded the pickups when it came back from paint. I like the X series. Every bit as defined as the Old EMGs but with some more “organic” qualities)
Currently setup with a brand new set of D’addario Chromes (less than 2 hours of playtime)

I’ve played this bass in a super loud/aggressive rock band, a Latin group, and R&B groups, and it sounds fantastic in every situation. I guarantee lots of compliments on your tone.

Better paint detail

Epiphone LTD Silverburst Thunderbird

Pretty standard. I had to have it when I saw the silver burst and chrome combo, but It never got much play time. I had big plans to upgrade the hardware and throw a set of Thunderbuckers in it. I got as far as the hardware, and this has the hipshot replacement bridge and a set of ultralite tuners installed.

Super smooth neck. One of my better playing basses. After I had the bridge and tuners installed, I threw on a set of light gauge Lo-riders. Only problem is that they were lighter than what the nut was setup for, so the bass buzzes on the first 4 frets (not a hint of buzz before the string swap). This is a really easy fix, but honestly, I’m lazy. I’ve got 15 basses that I can grab and play with no work, so I didn’t take the time to tweak the truss rod or shim the nut.

Specs are the same as any other Epi T-bird, except for the hipshot hardware.

Asking 400+ shipping

Purple Dearmond jetstar

This a wacky one, but another that I love. Sounds similar to a jazz bass. I bought one of these in 04, sold it to buy my Kubicki and regretted it. I got this one about 3 or 4 years ago, and It’s seen a lot of use at shows and for recording sessions. Currently setup with GHS flats for a nice old school thump. I fear I may regret selling this again, and am a little unsure, but I need a new rig, so I’m cutting everything that doesn’t get played. I have the original hardshell case and will include that.

One knob is missing the big “d” sticker.

Not sure of the body or neck wood. Sorry!
Rosewood Fretboard
32” Scale!! Super comfy and easy to play!
Light gauge GHS Flats
USA Dearmond pickups
500k Pots
Hard case

Asking 400 Shipped

Kip Sophos custom 5 string fretless

Kip Sophos is the bass player in Gil Parris’ band (some NYC cats might be familiar with him) and also builds his own custom basses. This was my second bass. My father bought it from a friend of his who really needed the money, and my dad figured I would use it, so he helped him out. Well, turns out I really didn’t use it.

It’s a beautiful bass and plays pretty effortlessly. From what I understand, the bass was defretted by the owner who also coated the board with some kind of lacquer so that he could use round wound strings. He also added an ABM bridge (http://www.allparts.com/Chrome-5-Str...b-0323-010.htm). You can see that it sort of hangs over the body a bit (although all the screws are anchored). Never caused me any issues, but I’m not a serious fretless player, so what do I know. This is a BOLT ON bass despite the neck through appearance from the front.

The battery box cover is currently missing. I’ll pickup a new one before it ships out. It’ll definitely need to be setup to your tastes, but this bass is pretty nice.

Swamp Ash body
Quilt Maple Top w/ Ebony Accent Line
Maple neck w/ matching quilt maple cap on the headstock (and more fancy Ebony accent lines!)
Pau ferro (?) Fretboard)
Green marbley looking ramp thing by the end of the board.
Gotoh tuners
Bartolini 2 band Eq
Bone String nut
EMG Active pickups.
ABM 3565b bridge
35” Scale (pretty sure, need to double check)

Aria Sinsonido Travel Bass

I bought this in high school with the intention of using it to practice during my lunch hour. It served its purpose, and I’m many years out of high school, so I no longer need it.

It’s got all the wire frame pieces, and the original carrying case. I did rehearsals with the previously mentioned Latin group, and all of the other bassists remarked on its feel in tone in a positive way. It also spent a good bit of time loaned out to a friend who owns a studio. He loved it.

Great practice tool!!!!!!

Mahogany body
Maple neck
24 fret rosewood fretboard
1 piezo pickip at the bridge.
Active electronics so that you can use headphones to practice with

Asking 350 + shipping.

Ibanez EWB Acoustic

I also bought this in high school for the same purpose as the sinsonido, and I have found very little use for this since then. No one in my household has issues with noise, and I’d rather play plugged in, so this doesn’t get used much.

Plays really nice. Flat radius Ibanez neck that’s on the thinner side.

I’ve got a rogue acoustic bass gig bag that I’ll include with this.

Swamp ash body
Maple neck
Rosewood board
Onboard tuner/electronics

Asking 350+ shipping

Fretless Yamaha RBX Bass

I got this bass in exchange for my constant service to my friends in the NYC band Bodyface (hence the sticker, easily removable). It was their rhythm guitarist’s first bass (I think this one was made in the mid 80s) and when I received it, it was in non working condition, and pretty dirty as well. I fixed it up, and loved it!!!!!

I Loved it so much that I decided to defret it. I didn’t do the cleanest work, but it IS functional, and I think it sounds great. Currently strung with rounds, but it doesn’t get much use. I planned on doing the whole epoxy thing on the board, but remember when I said I’m lazy? Yeah, that didn’t happen. I can include the epoxy that I bought if anyone is interested.

Alder Body
Maple Neck
Rosewood neck
Defretted Neck with filled fret slots
2 roller T string retainers
DIMARZIO SPLIT P PICKUP
CTS POTS
Wilkinson hardware
Schaller Strap Locks.

I can include the original pickup and hardware if you’d like.

Great to experiment with and see if fretless if for you. Also great for the parts.
Asking 125 + shipping.

Huntington P-bass copy

Really great playing bass that was given to me by a friend. I don’t know very much about it. Tried selling this in it’s own thread, but I figured I’d list it here again. I removed the tape I had on it to show the original finish. I figured most people probably don't share my enthusiasm for duct tape. The neck also has some pretty nice subtle birdseye figuring on it.

Maple Neck
Rosewood Fretboard
34” Scale
Super Lightweight
Satin neck
GHS Flats
Good P-bass tone.

Asking 100 Shipped. Please, shoot me an offer on this one. I’m super flexible as I have no idea about it.

1984 Charvel Custom Shop Explorer Body

I’m selling this body unloaded. The electronics are being gutted to go into another project.

The whole bass was given to me by a record producer friend, and the neck currently resides on my Geddy Lee bass’ body. There would probably be more interest if I sold this as a whole bass, but I REALLY like the neck. This is a feeler, so who knows what might happen. If you have even the slightest interest in the bass as a whole, talk to me!!!!

I’m not sure what wood it is. But it’s heavy. Originally finished in the Bengal Tiger thing they do, my friend refinished it in a mystic blue/purple fade thing that I think looks killer. The pickups are Duncans, and the tone with those is unreal. The front pickup soloed sounds like a classic p bass, while the bridge sounds a bit like a musicman. When you blend them together, you get a destructive full force tone that hits you in the face and doesn’t stop! It’s a rock machine at heart, but its surprisingly versatile. I realize I’m only selling the body, but I thought this might be useful information.

Made in the USA!

Asking 300 + shipping

A few non bass electric instruments. Avert yours eyes!!!

I figured I’d see if there was any interest on here for these as well. I’m sorry if I offend anyone.

70s Hondo II Mustang Copy

I picked this up while my band was on tour in Austin, TX. Total impulse buy. Not one that I regret in the slightest, but not one I care enough about to keep either.

The guitar was wired with an on/off switch for each pickup, and when both were on, it was out of phase. I had a push pot installed on the tone pot to select either in or out of phase while both pickups are on.

I like the sound of this guitar. The out of phase option is pretty quirky, but I dig it. The neck is a bit buzzy at some of the higher frets. This is NOT a 1 stop/do it all guitar. It has a specific sound, and is good at what it does. I can get you soundclips if you'd like.

Plywood Body
Maple neck/fingerboard
Tremolo bridge (missing the bar when I bought it)
2 single coil pickups
2 on off switches
Push tone pot to select in/out of phase

Asking 200+ Shipping

Eastwood Ovation GP Copy

This was my first guitar. I bought it because I’m a big Kyuss/QOTSA fan, but I realized that In the realm of guitars, I’m a Fender guy, and this Les Paul type beast isn’t the perfect fit for me. It does nail those tones very well, and is much easier to play than my Fender.

This guitar is totally stock
Same specs as the Eastwood site

Only downside is the knobs were super cheap and ended up stripping after repeated turns and won’t stay on any more.

Asking 350 + shipping

That’s it for now!!! Expect similar threads of the amp, pedal, and hardware/electronics variety to pop up.

I’M NOT INTERESTED IN TRADES!
I really want to buy a Bassman 100t with 2 115 neo cabs, so all of this stuff has to go

DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK ME FOR DETAILS OF ANY KIND!
I didn’t want to make this any longer than it already is.

Please, shoot me an offer! I’m a nice guy, and I’m willing to listen.

I’d be willing to try and arrange a get together or something to try these out for you NYC guys and gals.

I realize I don’t have much feedback here (I’ve done more transactions, but didn’t get feedback for ‘em). I can link to my eBay feedback if that would help any of you guys put your minds at ease.

Thank you all so much for looking!

Absolutely!!

This is a fairly old picture, not that much has changed, but the surroundings are pretty sloppy. Sorry about that.

I'd definitely be willing to discuss the possibility of letting the whole bass go.

Yeah man! I really do love it, but if the right offer comes along im willing to let it go. Its currently reassembled.waiting fkr the camera battery to charge to upload some. The neck on it is one of the comfiest ive ever played.

slightly off topic: i looked at the neck, and its marked "1966 OBD"

any idea what that might mean?

The Charvel Explorer is now reassembled and open to offers.

It has some dings along the edge of the body, but other than that, no issues at all.

thats what we like to see ( GTWGITP )
translated? get the whole guitar in the picture
BTW, with the refin it also has a different bridge. the OEM was not a BA. it was a standard jackson bridge with gold saddles.
you have to remember, that all guitars back then were customs, and yours having the p-p and not p-j meant someone ordered it that way, so for all we know it could have been played by someone famous, a poser bass ( meaning only used for photo shoots ), or just a collector who wanted it that way....

oh, and that black one? I forgot that the music-zoo is selling it and thats why it is 500 more than what it should be....lol

I always wondered about the bridge. The guy I got it from says he was the original owner (I believe him) and had another custom shop carvel that was also pretty nice. He said he remembered ordering it with the gold badass II, but swapping it out after the fact makes more sense to me.

Thanks!
