Apparently, there is some question as to whether or not this is a made in the USA or a made in Japan BC Rich. The fellow I bought it from was the original owner, and he assured me that it was made in the USA and that he had placed the order himself. I would welcome any folks with expertise in this matter to chime in, but I do believe that the guy I bought it from is a credible guy.

| | | | I'm assuming Lorne is a member here, but he would be the person to ask - he has a fantastic wealth of experience with BC Richs, and access to the serial numbers/catalogues to confirm.
If Morgue remains keen, perhaps keep it on hold until this is resolved?

I've committed to purchasing this bass from Tom at a price point that reflects the instrument's origin. |

It's a U.S. Series bass, it is NOT a USA Handmade, but it is a Japanese made bass, sent to the USA for final assembly/paint
Loads of things scream this, first of all, it's in a Import case, not a USA case, it has a 4 digit serial number, ala U.S.Series.It has a recessed rear control cover, and American one wouldn't be recessed. The active switches are in the wrong place and it wouldn't have a varitone
And the shape is wrong for an American one
I told you this ages and ages ago Tom
Here is an American made Warlock bass
Remove the truss rod cover of your bass and post a picture of the truss rod route

Editor-in-Chief, Bass Gear Magazine | | Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: North central Ohio | | | In all honesty, Lorne, I do recall a discussion about this bass shortly after I acquired it, and while I do recall that some folks (probably yourself) commented that it appeared to be a model that was not made in the USA, I also recall some discussion (possibly between myself and the original owner) which led me to believe that it was actually made in the USA (possibly with parts that were from or intended for the Japan shop?). I know that I talked to the original owner about this, and that when I was done, I still thought it was made in the USA. He moved out of state, but I'm going to try and track him down.
Either way, it is not my intention to mislead or cheat anyone. You may have told me many things "ages and ages ago," but in all honesty, I talked to a lot of people about this bass, and at the end of the day, I did believe what the original owner told me. Of course, I may be wrong. And if it turns out that the fair value of this bass is a lot less than my asking price, I'll probably just keep it. Because it is a kick @$$ bass. |

Lorne | And I don't mind anyone helping to clear up any questions regarding this bass. I, however, feel compelled to respond to comments that imply that I was intentionally misleading potential buyers.
I'll try and get a shot of that truss rod route. However, as I have told morguedoc71, I think I recall the original owner telling me that he called and wanted a made in the USA bass but that it was a rush job, so they had to use some "Japanese" parts. If this is the case, then I would think that the truss rod route would be of the MIJ variety. We'll see... |

| | | | As long as "some Japanese parts" are all the wooden parts, then you are right. All hardware and even paint are the same that were used on the USA guitars, just the body and neck were built in Japan. |

Editor-in-Chief, Bass Gear Magazine | | Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: North central Ohio | | | Well, in all honesty, I was not really wanting to get rid of this bass, and if the fair value of this bass is substantially lower than what I was initially led to believe, I think I will just consider this part of my permanent collection, because it really does kick a.
Thanks, y'all. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
