Here is another example of a single-cut that I actually think is beautiful. Normally I'm really not a fan of that body style but that is gorgeous.

NOT looking for trades on this one. I traded my FBass Fretless 6 to Mr Chauncy for the exact purpose of selling it.

I'm with you on that 100%. Never have really liked the design or the way it felt on a strap...until this bass. Very comfortable even for a guy who wears his strap fairly low.

GAS

For a brief moment I was actually thinking about rebuying this again. Please make the pictures smaller or less legible. My GAS is incurable!

Me too. This is one of those special basses. I just LOVE the ash neck.

Ok, a few things about this bass....

It has one of my favorite PRE's outside of a Sadowsky: the Lowend Pre. It's thick and bright in all registers and every knob including the VERY useful midrange knob can be goosed to maximum speaker-shredding and/or bowel-liquifying levels while still sounding musical.

Plus, it has a VTC and a V/V/T setup, which if you don't already know is like having a passive Jbass setup but with a kickass active pre.

So, that being said, is it a JBass? Does it cop a Marcus Tone but with a cocobolo top that'll make exotic-wood dealers case your house for a robbery? Yes and no.

The ash neck has a huge effect on what is otherwise very-much a JTone. It adds a level of compression to the tone and an extra crispness in the upper treble reason. The 'gank' in the upper register when slapped is ALMOST unpleasant. Not quite though. If anything, there's a whole lot there that can be tamed down or can mix very well with a tubier-sounding setup. The slap tone summed up is an extra-crispy and compressed Marcus tone.

Fingerstyle, it has all the JBass goodness, but with more low-mids, which as Pbass guy I like a LOT.

If I wasn't completely monogamous with my Sadowsky gals (bass polygamy?) I would give this bass a serious consideration.

Here's a bump with a few pics for ya to show the color a little better. Another awsome playing, beautiful Benavente I would have kept if I hadn't gone back to 4 strings....as a side note...the top and bottom were cut from the same chunk of cocobolo when I had it built. Absolutley stunning in person. GLWTS!

WOW. Smokin bass for sure.

Back of my mind is to try and snag a 6 string version of this somewhere down the road purely for practice-room wanking and/or some 'look at me' bass playing.
