Looking for a Smith!
I'm putting a few of my basses up for trade in hopes of getting a Smith. Must be 5 string and BSR shape.
First up is my prized Alleva-Coppolo LG5 TB Custom Supreme, finished in Nitrocellulose lacquer Olympic White, with matching headstock. Alleva-Coppolo vintage pickups placed in the 60's sweet spot. 2-band Alleva-Coppolo preamp, active bypass.
One piece maple neck with Old Growth Brazilian fingerboard. 34" scale with a 1-7/8" nut. Fingerboard radius is 10."
The neck is finished in a burst from neck joint and up to and including the headstock, very cool. This is the holy grail of jazz basses, it doesn't get any better than this. There's some checking in the finish, this is normal in nitro finished basses Trade value $5200. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MOnZd99xNQ
MTD 535. I got this bass a few months ago and it was my main player until I managed to break the neck..... I stripped the truss rod, got mad and things escalated really quickly
I sent it back to Mike and he made a brand new Ash/Birdseye maple neck with a world logo, he switched a few pots and now the bass plays and sounds better than ever. Ash body and a rare Tiger Myrtle top. Mike told me he only made a few basses with this kind of top. Really punchy with killer slap sound but not brittle like some MTDs. Just to reiterate, the neck is brand spanking new. Trade value $3600. TRADED
MTD 535. Tulip wood body, Maple neck and Rosewood board. This is a killer and versatile combo. You can get just about any sounds with this bass. Mint condition. Trade value $2800. TRADED
MTD 535-24 Fretless. This is the best sounding fretless I've ever played period. Mahogany body, Zebrawood top. maple neck and lined Rosewood board. Somebody switched the preamp to a Aguilar OBP3 along the way, very versatile. Excellent condition, there's a tiny hole between the pickups (pictured), it's hardly noticeable. I was gonna make a Zebrawood ramp to cover it but I haven't had the time. Trade value $3200.
Pavel Hadara Deluxe. This is the bass with the famous neck repair. I got it a few months ago, I dug the sound a lot but I didn't liked the feel of the neck. It was really smooth where the repair was and it felt coarse towards the 12 fret. I sent it to Pavel and he confirmed that the repair was excellent but the signature was fake! He worked on the neck and applied a gloss finish, replaced the preamp with a brand new Aguilar OBP3, cleaned and polished the frets and set it up. Now the bass looks and plays like new. Ash body, Buckeye top and a Wenge veneer. Wenge neck and Ebony board. Aguilar OBP3 preamp and Ken Armstrong pickups (custom made for Pavel). Trade value $2800 TRADED
Zon Vinny 5. This is a really cool bass, Ash body, quilted Maple top, composite neck and board. Bartolini pickups and preamp. 34" scale and 19 mm at the bridge. Comes in a custom case. Trade value $2800.
I'm looking for a Ken Smith, 5 string and BSR shape only. Plus or minus cash depending on what you have. I might be interested in a NYC Sadowsky or other basses of the same caliber but I really want to have another Smith in the stable.
Feel free to ask any questions (related to the basses for that are up sale
) and thanks for looking!
