Birdsong Cortobass with Upgrades - FS Only

Sign in to disble this ad
This beautiful bass was like new when I got it (from TB) and she's been babied, I can't find a nick or scratch anywhere except for a nearly invisible mark where I hit my music stand once (headstock).

I'm selling because I prefer a more standard neck shape. Birdsong necks have a taper from almost a soft "V" near the nut to flatter as you go higher up the neck, many love it but decided it's not for me.

Here are the details: Birdsong Cortobass Made in 2010. 7.6 pounds! 31" scale. Solid mahogany body. Rear routed, no pickguard. Gold hardware. Hipshot Type A brass bridge (gold plated). Hipshot Ultralite tuners. 1.5" nut width, ebony nut. Maple neck with rosewood fretboard with mother of pearl dots. Thumbrest. "Supremo" headstock. This is per the "certificate" from Scott, which will be included with the bass.

Knobs are: volume for neck pickup, volume for bridge pickup, and 6-position Varitone selector switch. The buyer asked Scott to use a matching knob for the Varitone switch instead of the chicken head knob just so it would match the other knobs. Plush hardshell case included. No dings. No dents. No scratches.

Here is a link to the Birdsong site:

Birdsong - Professional hand built short scale basses

Asking $1550 shipped in the CONUS. These sell for $2200 new and this one is about as close as you can get, avoid the wait and save some money!

Thanks!
Gerry

Rear routed, gold hardware and dots I believe would be the upgrades. Nice bass! Eduardo, you need one of these.

Sorry, that was a little unclear. I am referring to the "factory" upgrades, nothing has been done by the owners. Upgrades are:

Rear routing with wood back cover plate
Wood thumbrest
Gold Hardware
Dots in Face

Pretty sure the "supremo" headstock was also an upcharge.

Gerry,

I DEFINITELY want this bass! I'm trying to sell a few of my instruments, because 7 months of unemployment (or self-employment) has left me cash-strapped! Let me see if I can raise any quick cash to make this wonderful Birdsong bass mine.

I have gotten several nibbles and trade offers on my basses, but no firm cash offers yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that I sell at least one so I can quickly buy your Birdsong!

Gerry, Are you somewhat 'negotiable' on that price? ....(and how do I go about PM'ing you on this forum?)

It is an asking price, offers welcomed but at this point I'm not in a big hurry to sell.

update ...

Gerry,

I have a firm offer for one of my basses, but I won't receive payment until 11/15 or 11/16. I'd still like to buy this Birdsong Cortobass, if it is still available then! If you need to sell it before that time, I understand, but I really do want this bass in a bad way!!!

Thanks, .... Doug

I will sell to the first person who has the cash, but I won't be surprised if it is still here for you, Doug! I don't think there's a huge market for high-end short scales.

Gerry,

I'd send you the money NOW if I had it (I could borrow it from my wife, but I don't think that she would be too thrilled taking money out of her savings for me to buy another bass while I am unemployed .... unless I sell one of the three basses that I am currently trying to sell).
