Up for sale is my 32" No Frills that was recently optioned by Carl.
- 2008 32" No Frills 4 string
- Poplar body, Mahogany neck, Bloodwood fingerboard
- Hipshot Ultralight tuners and A-style Aluminum bridge
- Weighs only 6.5 lb!
- Carl just installed two Kent Armstrong Soapbars with Volume and Tone controls, 3-way pickup selector, 3-way tone switch (filtered, open, mute)
- Carl deepened the cutaway to allow better access to the upper register
- Carl refinished the entire bass
- Frets have *no* wear and were just sweetened by Carl
- Ships well-packed in original Carl Thompson gig bag
Action is outrageous on this bass... By far the lowest I've ever owned! The two pickup setup offers a wonderful tonal array. I love it but financial strains require sale. $4000, only trade I'd consider would be a 36" scale Carl Thompson or Hilton. I've been wanting to try a 36.
Thanks for looking!
-Darren

Ah, that answers one of my questions about a future possible CT order. A no-frills is available with a scroll.

| | | | Nice...
On of the luthier's corner threads was talking about poplar and it usefulness.
This is the combo of woods I used on my first bass, and I love it. Bloodwood just pops next to the poplar!
Beautiful instrument! Someday maybe I can get my hands on one. (Just keep filling that change jar...) |

Thanks!

I wanted a 2 pickup setup so I sent it back to Carl and he made it happen (as I mentioned in the original post). As you can see in the closeup pictures, it is perfectly done. |

Stanley Clarke plays his 32" Carl Thompson with piccolo bass strings, something I wanted to try but never got around to. Les Claypool played lighter strings on his 32" CT for years also, I think he used two .040's and two .080's... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
