It has a poplar body, ebony fingerboard with inlayed fret lines. It has a single EMG pickup with volume, treble and bass controls, Sperzel locking tuners and a CT wooden bridge. The neck is maple, and is set into the body with a typically beautiful heel inlay and a 34 inch scale length. The bass and its electronics are in good working order, it was recently set-up at Gruhns. This bass is rather plain by Carl's standards, but he built it as his personal instrument for a while. By anyone else's standards, this is a very exotic bass. I bought it from Carl while I was a student of his, it's very light and perfectly balanced. It includes a Reunion Blues gig bag, the same bag Carl carried it in. I tried to sell this bass on TB a few years ago, it generated a lot of interest, but no sale. This time, I'm asking $3,000, dropped from $3,600 plus shipping in hopes of a quick sale.

Love it! | Thanks, when I bought this bass from Carl the bridge design was brand new, I seem to remember that he was trying it out on this bass. As I mentioned before, this was his personal instrument before it was mine. I wouldn't go so far as to say that this bass was the first with the wood bridge, but it's probably ONE of the first. |
