I have decided to sale my Carvin LB70P. I have not had this bass for very long, I bought it from here on TB about 6 months ago. This is a GREAT bass and has has never been gigged. The only reason I am selling is I have 3 Laklands, which I have found is my Holy Grail of basses and while the Carvin is a great bass, it just sits in its case. This is a very versatile bass, 34" scale, and the piezo adds a great deal of tonal range. There is only 1 ding that I can find on the bass which is one the body near the 23rd fret on the E string side, courtesy of my 3 year old son. 18V electronics, MM/J pups with coil tap, the single coil is actually a H50S stacked humbucker. Neck and body are maple, ebony fretboard.I A/B'd this with my Lakland 44-02 yesterday and the sound is remarkably close, the Carvin has a more HiFi, clear quality to it, but they are really close. Comes with hardshell Carvin case. Asking $650 $600 TODAY ONLY $480shipped CONUS. Open to trades too, basses, DSLR Cameras, amps, 1x10 or 1x12 cabs, or let me know what you have or just make an offer, it's not getting played.

This is nearly identical to mine. Mine is fretless, though. These are excellent instruments!

Nice bass. I like the matching stock and the black neck-back.

Three questions:

1) That's a lot of knobs, what do they all do?

2) Have you ever recorded with this bass, and if so how did it do?

3) Is this bass "active" all the time or is it switchable active/passive?

Thanks

The knobs are: volume, pickup blend, piezo blend, bass, mid, treble and the switch is the coil tap. The volume knob is push/pull for active/passive. I have never recorded with it, but I am sure it would do well. It is a very well made bass.

What is the weight? Does the coil tap switch separate the MM into a single coil?

Also PM sent with a trade offer.....

The coil tap is two way, full humbucker and split to single coil. The tap makes it very jazz bassy. The weight is about the same as a Lakland 44-02 which I think is 8.5 - 9lbs. Pretty light to me.

ALSO...any idea on how old it is? I thought that this model had a sweepable mid-range but don't see the dual knob. Any neck issues (warp/twist...fret buzz or rattle) or truss rod problems. Thanks

I think its a 2010. No way to tell. The PO indicated that it was very new. I got it in July 2011. Neck is straight. Plays really well. Was professionally setup 2 months ago and I've played it once since then.

Thanks for the offer but I have to pass. I had one for about a week a few years ago and it just wasn't my thing.

Carvin love bump. Versatile, fun basses, and the used price is a steal.

If this was a straight J, it'd be in my living room right now and not listed anymore.

Good luck with the sale!
