Clement 6 #196 meets Ken Smith

Sign in to disble this ad
Selling my Clement #196, it was fretless when I got it. I got it fretted, then ordered Ken Smith pickups and preamp to go in the bass. It has a Black Limba neck w/ stringers, hipshot ultralite black tuners, Ebony fingerboard, Spanish cedar body sandwiched by flame walnut top and back. The center is sapwood walnut, flush mounted Dunlap strap locks, Hipshot A black bridge. As stated above Ken Smith exposed pole pickups and the 9 volt Ken Smith Preamp. 18mm string spacing, she weighs around 9.5 lbs. Please note under the pots I have washers as the Smith Preamp is on a circuit board and the holes had to be routed a little wider to accommodate this. Price $1850

Beautiful!

From the Clement's website, I see that this bass started out as a fretted bass. So, was it defretted and then refretted? (How about that for a question?! )

Who did the refret job? Did they have to glue in a lot of frets?

Any problems with the frets since adding the frets? Does it need a dressing or Plek job?

Thanks!

Yes it was fretted and then re-fretted done by a local Luthier. Im not sure of the work it entailed but if you are interested I can send u his number via pm and he would be glad to discuss the details.
