Conklin Groove Tools GT-5 with OBP-3

Hey guys,

I'm selling off some gear. I need the cash for another purchase. I'm not playing live anymore, and only occasionally do studio stuff, so I decided to thin the herd.

I've had my Conklin Groove Tools GT-5 for about 6 years or so. It was my main gigging bass for years. It's still in great shape, showing only minimal wear. The only real noticeable issue is a crack in the clear going straight from the neck pickup edge (G-string side) down to the edge of the bass by the strap lock. It's only the clear, it's not separated one bit. There is also a thumb imprint above the neck pickup. It's maybe halfway through the clear. The color coat is untouched. So it's hard to notice. The neck pickup is slightly boogered as well from the B and E strings hitting it. Other than those issues, the bass is in great shape!

There's no logo on the headstock. I screwed up years back trying to clean goop (okay, dried SoCo) off the headstock with something a little too strong, and it dissolved some of the logo, so I completely took it off (looked better that way).

The bass has an OBP-3 installed, wired with master volume, blend, bass, mid, treble. There's also an active/passive switch. The Neutrik jack was removed and replaced with a regular old Aguilar jack. There are flush-mount Dunlop strap-locks installed. There is also a Hipshot D-Tuner on this bass on the E-string. It had to be modified to fit the narrow headstock, and it works perfectly. For it to fit, I also had to shave down the D-string tuner a bit for everything to fit snug. I re-painted the tuner body, and it's not glaringly obvious unless you look.

This bass sounds great to my ears. It's got a great growl, and has always been my favorite bass, tonally. To me, it's the perfect gigging bass. Built like a tank, sounds awesome, and the neck is stable as a ROCK! I've literally tweaked the truss rod like 3 times over the entire time I've owned it.

If you want any good pics (this one was a cell phone quickie), just say the word. I can also send some audio clips of this bass from a live show a few years back if you'd like.

Price is $550. No trades, as I can really use the cash.

I don't know the weight, as I don't even own a scale (I hate scales because they hate me! Haha). I will say it's very light, and substantially lighter than my Spector. String spacing is tight. I personally like it like that. I've owned a few 19mm spaced basses, and I could never get used to the wide spacing. I don't know the actual spacing, but The neck width @ nut: 1 3/4 and the width @ 24th fret is 2 5/8.

The bass has a Swamp Ash core with a Quilted Maple top. The neck is 5-piece Wenge/Purpleheart lam, and the FB is Purpleheart.

Someone PM'd me asking for better pics, so I took a bunch, trying to highlight any boogers on the bass. These pics are completely untouched in any way. Here's the link...
