Conklin Groove Tools GT5

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale is a Conklin GT-5.
Swamp ash body with flamed maple top.
Bolt-on 5-piece wenge/purpleheart neck with purpleheart fingerboard.
Conklin active pickups with volume, blend, bass, and treble controls
34" scale, 16" radius.
Also has some cool innovative features like a beveled fretboard end for comfortable slapping, and a locking input jack.
9.2 lbs
It has one nick on the headstock and slight finish cracks on either side of the neck pocket on the body they are very small (shown in pics). It’s hard to notice and only looks to be finish level. Also the words "Conklin" are mostly worn off of the pickups. Bass plays great with great, low action.
Ships in padded gigbag.

Lets go $500 obo. You pay shipping.
$475 Shipped

Bump for the most under rated, under valued bass around. If I didn't have two already...

I have to ask a 5 string nooby question. "How's the B" on the 34" scale?
What a beaut. I've been eyeing the GT5 for awhile.

Nut width 1 3/4"
String Spacing 16.5 mm center to center

The B string sounds great. Punchy and growly and not sloppy at all. I am not a big fan of 35" scale basses but have owned some. I believe that if a bass is well made, it can have a great B at 34" scale.

Choice is down to a Lakland Skyline 55-01/02 or a GT5. I'm sure you'd have a suggestion

But next bass purchase will depend on selling my trusty ol' '74 Ric 4001 (which doesn't hold a candle to the new G&L SB-2 Trib), or my ATK750ka which has become my superb flat wound bass, only active bass and also outplays the Ric). Friggin' decisions!

If you've got longer limbs and fingers the 35" scale may be good for you. I do not have either and as such have settled on 34" scale 5 string. I think the the extra inch does add something however nobody but you or another bass player is going to notice.

The GT is a simply killer bass and this guy has it priced right. I'd jump all over it if I were in the market. BTW, I had a 55-01, loved it but the electronics left a little something to be desired. I tried another 35" 5 string a couple years later but am happily playing a 34" 5 string as my #1.

I can't believe no one has bought at that price!
IF it was a wine one AND IF I had money, I'd jump on it!
