Exclamation Cool, Vintage, Fullerton Factory (USA) Fender/Musicman Hybrid!

Gone (sold on eBay )!

Very cool, unusual and unique 1980 USA Fullerton Factory made Fender Bullet Deluxe with vintage Musicman pickups. Just had her setup. Plays well, sounds cool and many tonal options. The pickups appear to be old Musicman Stingray or Sabre pickups (probably worth a good bit of money on their own).

Bass has a lot of honest wear. Body is yellowed and neck has ambered. Routes under pickguard are not exactly pretty. Pickups are wired in passive mode and wired a bit funky at the moment. If I were going to keep her, I'd either wire her in Jazz config or I'd put in a pre-amp (I have a Musicman and/or G&L pre-amp laying around here somewhere that I can include as an option if you want to install it).

I'm including an old Fender USA case that I've had laying around for years. Case is in very good condition (all latches and hinges are in good shape as is the interior and exterior)! This case is also worth a good bit of money, but it's free with the bass. $625 takes it!!!

For whatever reason, the person that did the mods did it that way, but the good news is that the neck p/u cavity is rather large and the p/u could easily be flipped (a new pickguard would be required of course). Functionally it would not make a difference as both sides of both coils in the p/u are the same.

Modder preferred the symetry of the pickups this way maybe?

Yeah, it really is an awesome neck. It's cut more or less like a modern P neck (w the thinner nut 1.6?") and is also pretty thin front to back. Not Geddy Lee thin, but approaching that.

That things cool. I have an 80 bullet deluxe myself, loaded with a hot SD P pickup. The neck on these is actually something quite special.

Yeah these bullet necks are really amazing, I have them on all of my basses and have a hard time playing anything else.

Looking at this thing makes me want to grab my router and put MM pickups in mine.
