I hate to sell this bass, but a variety of factors (home repairs, car repairs, running out of room for stuff, etc) have conspired to encourage me to sell it, so here it is. This is a Curbow Petite 5 with a teak body, wenge top, Rockwood neck/board, and Bartolini electronics. It did have some repair work done to the headstock by a previous owner. I asked Doug Somervell about this repair, and he remembered it well. I believe he said that he and Greg both worked on it (or maybe Greg did the repair, but Doug knew about it), but at any rate, he claims that the headstock is now stronger than before the repair and it should have no long-term issues. I'll try to take better pics showing the area I am talking about. Shortly after I received this bass, I sent it to Doug to check it out and also to swap out the older Bart preamp (forget which model) for a newer NTMB pre, which definitely made an improvement, IMHO. He also touched up the finish a bit for me. It has an oil finish which was showing some wear from a previous owner's slap/pop playing. You can still see it a bit, but I think Doug did a really good job. Tuners are Sperzel locking-style. It's a fairly heavy bass, and I'll weigh it soon.
Here are the pics:
Here it is with my Curbow fretless (which is not for sale):
Here is a link to a video of Mike Fredericks (MikeBass) playing this bass at one of my GTGs.
I am asking $1,500, plus shipping. It does come with a Curbow matching case. Trades considered, but a sale (within the lower 48) preferred.
Thanks for looking, Tom. |

And your fretless is ridiculously good looking
Please let me know if the fretted doesn't sell...I am keen on a partner for my fretless.
Thanks and congrats on the sale |

Please note, it is currently missing a G-string. I must have cut the string too short when I restrung it the last time. I will restring the bass before shipping.
Though that means that I will play it again... which might mean that I'll have severe seller's remorse (which I always do, which is why I have way too much gear...). |

In the video you linked to it looks like either this one has fairly narrow spacing, or it could be that Mike is a really big dude. And is it 34" scale?
Definately like the 7.4lbs part too! If you think that's heavy I'd love to have one of your "light" basses! |

Well, it looks like this bass is going back to its prior owner, and I am definitely happy about that, because I'm demanding buy-back dibs, myself!
Thank you all for your interest. |
